Everyone understands this is terrible, everyone is nonetheless forced to frantically scramble for position in the new environment and some are doing better than others. (Thankfully us among them)
The absolute truth that lies at the bottom of all of this, which you must never forget as the sports business changes globally, is that absolutely every last red cent in the entire industry, every single penny without exception, is directly attributable to the passion of the fans for the game. That’s why TV is interested, that’s why advertisers are interested, that’s what pours the concrete into new arenas, NIL is the most direct version of that relationship yet. The fans are the money, period.
That is the North Star. If you’re ever crossways from that reality, the other shoe is coming.
