I hope BU has a few of these guys break out, but I cant tell if you are being sarcastic or not, but there is zero chance this team is anywhere near 88-89/04-05.
I said they would have more weapons and would be more balanced, like the 89 and 05 teams were. Didn't say they would achieve same results. Of course if they play anything like those teams (my fav Illini teams ever), I would be positively thrilled. The players have potential and high enough ceiling to be among the best in Illini history, potentially this next season or more likely the one thereafter.

That is the 1st highlight video I have ever seen where the person doesn't score a point. He looks like he can definitely dish it but don't we have a point guard? We need some more scoring. As in we have to replace 82 points of lost production per game. We need some dudes that can score.
Having more playmakers, passers, who can also score when they choose to is not a negative thing. I have seen KJ score as well as dish.

I'm seeing a kid who is drawing a TON of attention from the defense and it leading to a lot of easy baskets for his teammates. You don't get that type of attention if they don't think you can score.

Guys who create for others are valuable. I like players who are efficient and donā€™t force shots. He will find creases and find other people baskets.

Yes, maybe so, but it was a thing to behold.

A pet theory I have long held is that if Weber weren't so desperate for the recruiting credibility that signing Richmond represented, we would have walked away from that commitment long before he ever stepped on campus. It was clear for years that he was a problem child but "Richmond decommits" was a headline Weber's tenuous hold on the job couldn't afford.

I do know from people around the program that dealing with him made that whole season a nightmare.
I think that's 100% what happened. Weber was dealing with a fanbase already upset about recruiting (par for the course really, lol), and I think it's why he rushed into it and didn't back out despite the numerous warning signs. Based on how Weber spoke about it back then I don't think he wanted Jereme on the roster and that he felt he was forced into it. I had season tickets to our 1-11 football season. Went to every game. And that season doesn't even remotely register as disappointing or as frustrating or as hopelessly infuriating as that Jereme Richmond season. Dark days.

I think it's based on expectations that why people have such deviations. I'm on the wrong side of 40 and would love to see a natty before I expire that's why I can be at times critical. As it looks right now, I'll predict 6th in the BigTen and a one and done in the tourney. Landing a stud, we can possibly make some noise next season.

I do not understand why some of the pessimism surrounding our team. TSJ is and was a great player, maybe one of the best ever at Illinois, but we will overcome his loss. Even when he missed several games, we didnā€™t look too shabby.

Thereā€™s going to be a culmination of five players on that court, which will make up for his play.

Comparing every position from last year to this year, I canā€™t believe anyone would think last yearā€˜s team is better. We have a true center and point guard along with the great abilities of the other recruits as well as the incoming one or two mystery players to be determined.

Just sit back and watch the results of a lot of hard work and watch with great pride in next yearā€˜s team.
I like the positivity and enthusiasm. No telling how far this next team will go but I believe they will be fun to watch.

I agree that next year's team can be quite good (hopefully second weekend and beyond team in March), but this an insane stretch.

Your second statement is something. We will overcome losing maybe the best ever at Illinois next year? Ok.

In addition, TSJ is nowhere close to the only piece gone next year. Virtually the entire team is going to be turned over. That was not the case going into the season last year. Replacing TSJ, CH, and Domask is not an easy task. I think BU is doing well in replacement, but getting the entire team to gel will take time.

Can this team be good, sure; great, maybe; best team ever...no.

Thatā€™s your opinion, letā€™s see next April who was right.

I'd say the volatility in plausible outcomes has never been greater. There is a lot of talent already on board, and we will add to it. I have no doubt we will have the horses to run the race. How quickly and to what extent they learn to play together is really anyone's guess.

I have a lot of confidence in this coaching staff, so I like our chances of being, at minimum, a solid tournament team.

I think the table is set extremely well for 25-26.

Guess it's not only posters on here who are filled with doubt an anxiety.
This is only my humble opinion but I Not to keen on Sleepers. I have followed them a while and they seem like pretty good dudes. They are very entertaining but these guys are not to accurate at times. It might just be me but I trust Bardo and Trotter more. Bardo because he was in the league and is a good judge of talent. I have followed Trotter ever since he came up and he is non sensical. All business. One more thing is that these guys are M. State and Michigan homies. Not saying that they are slanted but... Greg probably will run around the park naked when they finally break our streak of 8 straight or so. I just believe that they would love to see us fall back down to where we were before Underwood came because we have given them fits.

I think everyone would agree that we would love to see the team complete and competitive.

Loyalty for the past 54 days has been 5-6 insiders posting about what they've heard and then the same people making the same complaints about the same unknowns for literally 100s of pages (not counting gifs, twitter rants, and dad jokes).

Everyone agrees that Underwood deserves the benefit of the doubt. So people choosing to use the board for therapy about their Illini anxiety is exhausting.

idk if this been posted yet.but I hope daddy Brad uses this for some postboard material to light a šŸ”„ under our guys
Pretty ridiculous for anyone to be making predictions while recruiting is ongoing. I seriously donā€™t get the loyalty negativity. Please wait until the roster is final before you start the hysterics over our doomed season!

These 3 five stars: Jasper Johnson, Meleek Thomas, AJ Dybansta. We're likely to get all 3 on OVs (according to Indy).

About 80-90% chance we won't land any of them...but if we land Kasparas, feel like AJ is the most likely of those 3. The fit just wouldn't make sense to me with the other 2 - we're gonna have 3 really talented guys at that co-guard spot: Fears, Junior DGL, Kasparas. Them coming in along with those 3 as really talented 5 stars just doesn't make much sense IMO.

I know this is absolutely pipe dreaming...but since you brought up "best team ever in our illustrious history"...here's one that could be:

Guards: Boswell, Fears, DGL, Kasparas
Wings: AJ, Ty, Tre
4s: Booth, Morez
5s: Tomislav

This is a true title contender and likely, if it comes to fruition, will be Brad's best team. Now...of course retaining all 8 of those guys from this year's team is extremely unlikely...but I like our chances to replace 1 or 2 of those guys form the portal...

And hey...if Rutgers can get 2 out of the top 3 players in a class...why can't we get 1? Cmon now...
