Player C - Luke Goode
Player D - Jake Davis

They would fit the same family reunion comment. Wow - the per 100 can really be deceiving given it doesn’t have usage baked in, but Goode had a highly efficient year at IU
Are we bringing Goode back to play shooting guard.?

We just got bounced in the first weekend with all those guys on the team. So, no, I wouldn’t say it’s a great start.

Duke is getting involved with Sarr.
obviously anyone can understand the allure to Duke, but if your goal is to go somewhere to raise your stock in the draft next year is sharing the ball with the Boozer twins and Henderson and whoever is staying from the current Duke team the best way to do that?

I would hope one benefit to come from this year is we got KJ’s stock up to lottery pick status by featuring him and that would appeal to others, particularly his former teammates

So we couldn't hold on to Dix? Must have been hard. Slipped right through our fingers.

You have to love fan forums. Especially in the new NIL and transfer portal world. One second we are bringing everybody back and getting everybody and the next second Sarr is now going to the highest bidder and we have no shot at Dix. And we might get Bryce Hopkins. It's gold Jerry.

We were outbid early in the process for Storr and Maddox last year and seems that worked in our favor as neither were good enough to start for fringe tourney teams

Not saying we should just get outbid for players, but there will be guys pop up here and there throughout the spring/summer

Big money coming in for Dame Sarr. Not just Duke. His recent play has turned heads. He already told Underwood he's coming, but the longer he waits the more $ it will cost. How much do they want to burn on one guy?

Illinois has a competitive package, but also money on the table for Ivisic and Morez Johnson.

Josh Dix will command $2m as one poster already pointed out. Kansas wants him, but Iowa is now willing to spend to retain him. Kansas was robbed blind by AJ Storr, so maybe they're gun shy about another Big Ten wing?

And a shot in the dark offer on the table for Will Riley. Lots of bread.

Hopefully that shot in the dark offer is from Illinois?

I am not an expert in the market value of college athletes, but $2M for Dix seems... extreme.

To second this, Illinois is still in a great spot for Dame Sarr. Think he ends up here still as of now.

Agent just trying to get more money. Would not be worried at all right now.
In fairness Egor’s agent was doing that last summer and it ended with Egor at BYU

KJ took a lot less and will get drafted ahead of Egor because he went to the best place for him, not the most money and will make multiple times that difference in NIL from his first contract alone

Guys that are NBA draft picks really shouldn’t just chase the money- they should be wanting to maximize their draft stock and where they can do that the best, hopefully Sarr is hearing that advice

Thank you. This whole Sarr thing was starting to seem exactly like last year with Demin. I think we got the better end of that deal with getting KJ instead.

I mean, last year around this time A.J. Storr was a done deal and Ryan Kalkbrener was leaving Creighton to come here. We also had Jermiah Fears committed to be our PG next year.

I think I speak for quite a few on here in saying I wish you posted more often. Always a nugget or two, and a pretty good record for being right.

No offense and not calling you out because you bring invaluable information.....

We (the board) have been down this road several times. That road is littered with what ifs

I would love to see Illini retain Will Riley (also Ivisic, Johnson, Boswell, White) and sign Sarr. Would like to see coaches bring in another shooting center to back up Ivisic if Jakstys isn't ready or leavess. Would like to see more of Johnson/Ivisic playing together on the floor. Plus another seasoned PG through portal to play with and/or backup Boswell. I'm sure Illini coaches will do another good job this off season, bringing in talent at all positions, while maintaining a deep bench. Goal as always is Final Four. :illinois: (y)

This is why I take "done deals" before the season even ends with a grain of salt. Last year, Storr was ours during the middle of the Big Ten Tournament via a verbal hotel agreement.

These coaches are powerless with recruiting in it's current state. The term "until the ink is dry" isn't even valid anymore. Nothing is done until the kid is on campus and is in uniform.

Each team's needs change based on transfers, some expected and some unexpected. If Duke has been notified that someone is leaving or a player/transfer got flakey on them, then they have to pivot.

Look at our roster. We still don't have a clue who's going to be back on our team and that's from Booth to Rodgers and everyone in between.

Let's bring our own guys back first, then worry about supplementing or upgrading our roster after. Doing that in reverse is how you end up starting with an entirely new roster again.

Probably would not be able to get both. It would be one plus a portal wing

Is Costanza staying in '26? I thought I remember hearing some talk of him reclassifying to '25. I assume if we keep Riley or landed Sarr he wouldn't come here anyways in '25 if he were to reclassify?
