Haven't seen Dix play enough to know if he is as good on defensive end as offensive. Numbers say he can shoot from range, but if he is not as good as we have on defense, I would pass.
You can normally gauge the significance of an opponent when we play them, but when Illinois played Iowa, he did not stand out to me. Nothing like Payton Sandfort did. I say pass also.

He can shoot 3s. He did start slow but like Van Gundy said, no guard in the NCAA TOURNAMENT was playing any better.. why don't you look up his stats. Have you ever played hoops and guarded a 6'2" guard built like Kylan or Thornton. It's a !!!!!. Kylan shot well at 38% at Arizona and in the B10 and NCAA kicked !!! from three. Kylan is a stud snd if he had the ball to start the first and second half vs Kentucky we would won. Instead BU let KJ and Will turn it over. Much like last year trying to force Ty at UConns big. Do what works. Kylans a stud. Lighten up n suck my Big Toe Butkus if you tjink Kylan isnt goid!

I watch Morez in warmups before every game, you'd have a better chance at making Shaq an 80% ft shooter than having Rez hit 3's at a clip that would help his NBA stock
That's not true, man. I've watched him knock in twenty in a row. Sticking him on the perimeter just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The issue is taking a A+ offensive rebounder and making them a C- spot up shooter isn't a winning offense.

He has been pretty poor defensively across his college career, for context's sake Domask had a DRtg of 109 his senior year, Dix was 115 this year (lower is better)

I would normally say that's a bad comparison because DRtg can contain 'noise' and be influenced negatively if the team is poor on defense as a whole... but we were also pretty poor on defense last year so it may just be a perfectly valid comparison to make in this case

He seems like a nice add, but I would hope we aren't using 2M of our budget on him
In 3 seasons Josh Dix has amassed 1 honorable mention all conference accolade. He has never helped his team win 20 games or a single NCAA tournament win. He's not a strong rebounder, nothing great with assists, he is a 3 pt specialist. If that gets you $2 million, then college basketball is going to be unsustainable.

I thought it was crazy last year that Coleman got $2 million. But at least he has coming off a 3rd team all conference and Elite 8 season as a key player. And Coleman is a bit of a stat stuffer type of player.

If Dix gets $2 million and I'm Braden Smith, I'm gonna say I want $4 million. What exactly is a star player worth if a 3pt specialists get that much money?

He put up 21 against us in the B1G tournament. Shot 10% better than Sandfort from the field & 7% better from the arc, on the season. Shot better than Braden Smith, too…

Exactly- not sure what the other poster was watching but he played well against us and was 10/17 from the field, with 21 points. He’s not just a three point specialist he shoots 57% on 2’s and 43% on 3’s he has more steals than turnovers on the year and will be a senior having played 3 years in the big ten so you know it translates. Let’s not act like Dix isn’t a good player

I agree we shouldn’t pay $2M if that’s his number. I don’t see a world where we can take Dix, Sarr and Tre so if we lose out on Dix it’s not the end of the world if Tre comes back- losing out on both would hurt

Dame Sarr reminds me of high school/freshmen Andrew Wiggins. Seems to have similar skill set, aggression, measurables, athleticism, shooting. If we have opportunity to take him, you do. If you can build the team with Kylan, Tomi, Morez and Sarr you take that. Look to keep Tre, another PG/SG veteran type, and back-up big. Keep Davis as well for D and 3 wing. Possibly room for Ty. Watched another highlight reel of Sarr, looks like no doubt NBA player with added age/muscle. Great project for Fletch.

I can see a school with too much money to spend like BYU putting opening up their wallet for Smith. Honestly, why would any star player like him at a budget-limited school not test the portal?

Why wouldn't every single star player enter the portal if for no other reason than to run up the amount their school needs to pay them to get them to stay?

This is the system we have in place and it is extremely stupid.

Booth might be a good fit for a lower division Div 1 program, possibly out west with his dad. Northern Colorado, Boise, Big Sky conference types. Or just Big East (Georgetown, Providence, Depaul types)

Utterly unsustainable in current form. This is why every season becomes more and more critical to win the championship. The system is not long for this world without major reform - if even possible at this point.
