We’re very lucky here. I’m on the Premium UNC board and their portal thread is an epic disaster. Full blown panic and anger over there. Quite the different mood from here.

Ty's been working on his shot and his ball handling all year, he may have stepped up his game. I do want him to return for all the intangibles he brings and as a matter of fact, I do miss DaMonte.
Sencire worked on his shot for an entire redshirt season, and illinois even released a preseason hype video of him knocking down a bunch of shots in practice. None of that appeared to carry over to real games (except free throws). You just never know

Utterly unsustainable in current form. This is why every season becomes more and more critical to win the championship. The system is not long for this world without major reform - if even possible at this point.
I heard a former NBA player on sports radio talk about how European players are getting better. He said in Europe, the young basketball players would practice 5 days a week and play one day. In AAU ball, the players play 5 days a week and practice once. He said if you try to institute more practice days, the players would just go to another AAU club that plays everyday. He also mentioned how the transfer portal isn't helping. He said back in the day, players worked hard to get better to get more playing time. Now, they just transfer to another school that will let them play and don't focus as much on getting better. I found his comments interesting.

Well and a critical mass of the best players are now foreign born. Your last few MVPs are Luka, Jokic Giannis. When watching the Olympics last summer I kind of thought to myself this is likely the swan song of American dominance in basketball. Once that LeBron/Curry/KD Cohort retires, I think our days of easily having 4 of the 5 best players on the court at all times are likely done.

We still have the best athletes, but just look at how skilled Tomi and KJ were this year (even with KJs struggles down the stretch) compared to their average American counterparts.

I call BS. I was at a game and watched him during the shoot around. He's actually got a nice-looking shot.
I have been watching this kid since his high school freshman year,he started developing his outside shots in his junior year and I have seen him taking quite a few of them during his high school years…but I do realize that people just enjoy putting up a lot of hot takes on the message boards.

We really need to capitalize on KJ’s success this year with other International recruits (e.g.Sarr)

KJ is projected as a lottery pick after one year at Illinois which dramatically improved his draft stock- he’s now projected to go ahead of several players he was well behind in the eyes of the NBA

KJ has now passed:

Demin- who spent a year at BYU
Hugo Gonzales- stayed in Europe
Nolan Traore- stayed in Europe

If that is not the best commercial for going to Illinois I don’t know what is- players have gone to Arizona and UCLA in years past and killed their draft stock, we should be a go to destination for International players after this year

All games do is reinforce habits (good or bad). Kids just don’t want to put the training time to work on their skills.

This is what people need to remember - the reason that we won't likely see Morez taking outside shots is not because he can't make them - it's because it would be very low on the list of best people shots we could take in a given offensive possession.

I believe Morez can and will expand his game. One reason I feel this way is I felt he improved at the line as the season progressed. He looked much more comfortable, took a deep breath, closed is eyes and the shot seemed to go in later in the year a little more often and looked better. Now do I expect Rez pulling up from three? No I do not nor do I want him to. All of the guys need to play to thier strengths. Brad knows what those are and I'm sure wants them to play to them. They can work on other aspects in practice to improve different phases which I believe Rez can do. I feel that he can improve a little jump hook or a bit of a midrange game like Reece at Maryland has over the past few years. I do think Rez will improve each season he is in CU on both ends of the court but there needs to be reasonable expectations.
I feel one area we need to improve is finding a big bodied post defender that is hard to move and can protect the rim. Some fairly skilled 275lb or so big guy to come off the bench. Could help vs teams like Purdue, Maryland and others with bangers in the post.

Simple, just have him do this when shooting threes

I'll take my coaching salary now, please

And him giving Josh the blow by on the post game hug was pretty telling
Yeah, not a good look. Everytime there was a clip of the locker room, while most players seemed to be celebrating, Carey seemed glum. The weird thing was, the schedule this year had Carey on one side and Hummer on the other...Never could figure that one out.
