Chuck Nuggets
Dip your nuggets in my staff source sauce.
This is the world many people wanted. Enjoy. It stinks. The NCAA has to find some way to get a chain on this tiger.
So the only ‘done’ deal is bam? Tomi?
Absolutely agree. I never wanted to dog Morez with all the love on this board, but bottom line, he was a beast, but other than a dunk his offense was limited.Love Morez and he's an amazing player but two million plus for a non shooter big isn't realistic when we already have Tomi.
There are a LOT of influential people that are getting to that point …
Especially when they get told … Well we think Bam will be back but that might be it …
That ain’t what they want to hear …
Beyond frustrating. We were so close after last year of building something. ThenThis! I would add that the nepotism BS has to be addressed NOW!!
Is the staff aware of the problem? Or are they pointing fingers elsewhere?See post #1,267 …
Yep. It’s a 1 month sport now and frankly I have near zero interest in the tourney once it’s a bunch of big conference teams and IL is out. There used to be a couple dogs to cheer for but that’s being killed off by nil and portal. Hoops is a garbage product atm.Like I said previously. Not in any way a sustainable model. My interest in college bball has - and continues to - fallen precipitously. They’ve ruined the product completely.
My biggest issue with BU. We struggle to retain guys. I mean sure, money plays a bigger role than ever, but there are things you can do throughout a season to make a player feel the love. You have to keep recruiting even after they're on your roster. The relationships with our players just feels too transactional compared to other programs. This is what happens when you play Ben Humrichous over a talent that is going to be All-Conference Floor/All-American ceiling good by the time his college career is over.
This is avoided if he plays as much as he deserved from Day 1, not halfway thru the year.
In this day and age, it's all about managing the egos of players, and FAR more importantly, their respective inner circles.
Hate to be blunt, but this was 100% avoidable. And our staff continues to fumble these situations. Mind-boggling and beyond frustrating.
He has been advertising his clinics all year in Illinois gear. In Chicago and Champaign. While still getting paid by Illinois.Moretz in portal days after TA holds clinic, in Champaign…sporting Illini gear.
Coincidence?
I thought he made sense as the counterbalance to the strategy. You (the opponent) can't just defend the arc because you have Morez dominate the paint and rebound the many 3-pt misses, so keeps you honest.I felt this Morez news was coming, but I would be interested to understand how the style of play may have impacted this decision. Always felt odd to me to have a guy like Morez in there when this team's first instinct was to jack up 40 three's a game.
To verify, cause I haven’t heard this before until your post, he had a two year contract/commitment to Illinois? (I’m asking purely out of curiosity…I’m not questioning you or being snarky)While I agree that Morez > BH I don’t understand what the negative impact was to Morez this season as it played out.
He played major minutes and was a net positive for the team, showed what he could do and was in line for a big jump in role and $$ next year.
That’s great he was committed for two years before arriving but that obviously doesn’t mean anything anymore. Seems to be about how much $$ you can make and I’m sure there’s more to it but whatever
Good luck to the kid but quite obivious $$ trumps all else.
He certainly is. This is a case where BU being stubborn may have hurt the team. And I pray that the "Players-are-unhappy-with-Tyler" rumor is not true at all.Couldn’t have said it better myself my friend …
