I can't believe Brad is willing to tie his future to these two...

You can be fired for not being a good fit for the company, too. That's how at will employment works.
Why does firing someone have nothing to do with their performance?
That is an insane thing to say
If the relationship with players got toxic enough for it to impact our ability to retain players, then he could be an offensive wunderkind and still need to see the exit. He's not and it did and he should.
I think it's placed on both and most people want Hamer gone very badly.
But go watch UConn's, Nebraska, Iowa, Purdue, Texas Tech, BYU, Florida, Gonzaga, or Alabama and legitimately watch how their offensives flow and move and tell me that you think Illinois is a well coached offensive team.
Yeah they have graded out well by the metrics but that's because they have had a ton of talent that last two years. Also, offensive efficiency doesn't necessarily tell the entire story when you light up teams like Iowa for 100+ points but struggle when you play teams that actually play physical defense. Plus, your offense is super volatile and puts you in position to lose games you have no business losing.
Metrics are great and can add a lot of context to why things work but you still need to watch games and other teams play to have the entire picture despite what the consultant class of this country may think.
If you gave Fred Hoiberg this Illinois roster this year he would have had the best offense in the country. Why is anyone excited about the 15th best offense with this roster? You had two extremely talented lottery pick type talents in KJ and Riley, an extremely skilled 7 footer that you can run your offense through and a ton of capable role players in Boswell, White, Morez, DGL, and Humrichous. The one thing they did very well was offensive rebound and basically all of Brad's teams have done that so I'm not going to credit Tyler.
Auburn has the 3rd best offense in the country and I don't know if they have a single NBA player. Like this Illini offense should have been a top 5ish offense, 15 is underselling the talent they had.
I don't think there's any 'rumor' involved in the Tyler practice situation I heard about. I trust my source on that one.We firing people because rumors now? Let's let them handle it internally rather than lynch people based on things we know nothing about
Depends on where he is playing next year. He would be a beast playing for Izzo. How good do we expect senior Ty to be with this extra year of practice?
If someone is not a culture fit and causing problems … You remove them, even if they’re good at what they do …
It’s really not that insane … It’s that no one person is bigger than the team/program/company …
And in this case it just so happens to be the coaches son who has done nothing to deserve the position he’s in, so it just adds fuel to the fire for many …

If a junior coach is driving away talent and more senior coaches who bring that talent in, it's time to A) correct the behavior and B) remove him if corrective measures don't work.
And I heard about that months ago from someone with good relationships with the players, not a random Internet blog this week.I don't think there's any 'rumor' involved in the Tyler practice situation I heard about. I trust my source on that one.
It sounds like both Morez and Tre wanted roles within the offense that suited their pro aspirations and less so within the offensive system designed to benefit the team as a whole. And if both players feel their futures depend on getting that freedom at other schools, they absolutely should leave. But the recent litter grounds of transfers past show way more inflated, unrealized dreams than any true success stories. Only Podz has blossomed post Illini-days.I'd agree. If he's out of pocket with players and other coaches, that's part of performance, even if his scheme is good.
Anyone have a link/screenshot of the exact rumors floating around about that? I've been through the pages here but only see references. Something more concrete would be nice.
Move Coleman to the 5? No thanksLast year the player that got a long leesh was Justin Harmon. Brad is just a horrible lineup manager and seems to get emotionally invested? I have no other way to put it? One of the worst on the high D 1 level. He started Ben H over Will, White or Morez. Last year he should have started Dain and moved Coleman to the 5.
I’ll go…A…I don’t love that Ben seems likely to come back. But if he’s coming back, then I hope there’s a serious discussion about his role and the price we are paying….

Indy, if he is out line and causing problems then I can get on board
But so far? I haven't seen anything?
Again, what talent has been driven away that has had more success elsewhere? Dain and Podz are the only two, and both took steps down in class to do so.You can be fired for not being a good fit for the company, too. That's how at will employment works.

Depends on role but I like him, and I thought Storr was gonna be an awful transfer so I at least have that going for me.I think it’s fair to assume that the majority of y’all in here have the best knowledge about our program and our recruits than anyone else. Do we really want Dix? Something in my gut is telling me we shouldn’t but I obviously have 0 contribution to the final decision
