I have concerns about adding Storr means related to Underwood and staff perceive culture within a vacuum, or that Wisconsin players talk about the team environment being a lot better this year compared to last year, or that every team he's been on has been better after he leaves, but let's focus on Storr's on-court performance.

I would recommend some folks re-visit Storr's Wisconsin stats. There is a rosier-than-reality perception of Storr, with my assumption being that excellent BTT performance and immediate rumors that Illinois was going to add him as a transfer in the offseason. He also has been a negative defensive player at three different stops, including with two coaches that are known for their defensive prowess.

The biggest alarm is he is the first P5 starter I have ever seen that has put up a negative offensive/defensive rating in each season of his career. Quick description: offensive rating is how many points produced over 100 possessions when that player is playing. The reverse applies to defensive rating. It's really hard to put up a single negative season on a good team because you traditionally pile up a ton of excess offense produced points and few defensive points allowed when you play terrible teams. You can look up Illinois' starters from last year, such as Boswell (+8.9) or Tomi (+22.3!) or even Humrichous (+13.1) to see how this is always positive. You can even see a player that was frequently loved or hated at Illinois like Kipper Nichols that had negative offensive/defensive season ratings but was still a career positive (+2.2). So just imagine how many negatives are associated with poor defense and poor team dynamics to put up a negative rating (-2.7) across three different programs.

Sometimes prices get inflated simply because there are not many other options that provide the same qualities. Yes there are lots of great players in the portal, but is there anyone we could get that provides Dix's ability to score efficiently at all three levels against high major competition? Is there anyone else even close? Sometimes an overpay is justified and I think this could be one of those times.
Agreed. But I think what the staff has to figure out here is where this is trending. If Dix wants to take this down another month or so into May/in extreme case June, and you're still in a dicey situation of whether you'll even get him... the staff better have a plan. Not saying move off of him right this moment, but it's good to have a Plan B and other options open in recruiting.

sounds like dix to indiana. Dix played summer basketball on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit with anticipated IU forward Tucker DeVries.
familiar with the coach.

Please no on AJ Storr. Last thing this team needs is a ball hog that shoots 30% from 3.

He reminds me of Caleb Love, but if Caleb Love really sucked
Why did Storr have so much trouble at KU? I thought he was awesome at Wisconsin- was disappointed we didn’t land him last year. If this was already discussed- I apologize.

Performance anxiety

(inner monologue: Dang it! You promised to take the high road. What a hypocrite! That was it, no more!)

I think Coleman was exhibit A to make sure you are getting the "Alpha" when you spend $2M in NIL.

Coleman was a great complementary player who improves your team but could not carry a team like Tonje.

A lot of guys might not want to come into the sort of program that says "We know this guy's an !!!!!!! but he came cheap, that's how we could afford you. Hope he doesn't hold it against you!" and I don't blame them. We're not high enough to make monetary offers guys can't refuse.

I dont necessarily not want Dix but I'm also tired of watching terrible defense and wouldn't hate getting guys that are better athletes.

For example I would happily take the following as a top 8: Boswell, Sellers, Storr, Sarr, Ty, Elyjah Freeman, Tomi, and Big Z. Then you could have Davis as your 9th guy(or Hum if he wants).

That group would give you a ton of athelicism and mobility on defense to cover up for Tomi's lack of foot speed defensively. Basically just Boswell, the Ivisic twins, and 5 guys that are strong, athletic, and between 6'5-6'8.

You don't necessarily have a true sharpshooter but 7 of your top 8 guys id argue are capable shooters plus Ty. I know Storr and Boswell shot poorly this year but both have been good free throw shooters and shot better from 3 in the past, so I think they could bounce back with an off-season of development and better shot selection.

I had a friend that is related to Sherron Collins (2006-2010 at KU). I only met him once, but that is similar to what I asked him. He said Self is a great guy...but has a very loud and red faced persona when needed. Unless he's changed in the last 15 years...

Perhaps Indiana doesn't want to split hairs or differences with daddy's boy (Tucker Devries). Do him and Dix not play the same position? I realize the 2/3 are basically the same, but perhaps they don't wanna share the rock.

Idk...if we could just get 5 1st team all-americans, 5 2nd team all-americans, and a couple walk ons to tote their man satchels full of cash, get their towels, and rebound in pregame for them and I'd be happy.

It's kind of crazy.... Coleman got $2m at the last minute last off-season and that basically set the market for everyone else. I wonder how many extra millions are being spent on college bb players right now because of Coleman.
I think you are right, and maybe CoHawk should get a royalty from all these kids for the next year or so.

Some coaches starting to wonder if Josh Dix is really worth a stupid amount of money.
Why wasn’t this the case in the beginning….

Not questioning you, per se, but this dude was the third best player on a bottom feeder big ten team. We can do better. Plus are we just gonna ignore the fact that he played at IOWA 🤢

Dix is top 5 player in the Portal (for what ever that is s”worth)…. might be 2 million worth. He is that good!
