Keep an eye on a portal power forward that should enter in the coming days.

Big Z/Tomi announcement should be soon.

They are hoping for Sarr plus one more euro.

Looking to add a big money guard/wing in the portal-will have more on who that could be in the coming days.

Two depth pieces in the portal as well.

They are being a bit more tight lipped this year, but targets will start to emerge again.

Great baseline to work with with Kylan, Tomi, Z (should be soon), and Ty. They will get dudes around those guys and next year will be fun. Gotta stay patient, better days ahead.
How about coaches? Feels just like last year, misses on Storr, Maddox, etc….. more excitement / interest in who we are chasing than who’s going to coach them…. Like last year with O, wouldn’t pulling in a quality coach or two help bring some players in?

I like our Euro connections but there’s a significant difference of physicality in college..

I want dudes that are tough as nails and that attack the rim. I thought Sellers fit that perfectly.

Seems like Brad changes his mind about the type of player he wants like Illinois weather.

UConn had 3 international players on last year's NC winner

They had 4 international players on the team the year before (also won the NC)

I didnt go any further back than that, but you can certainly be successful with them

The notion that EuroLeague is soft is kind of bunk, Wembanyama is on record as saying EuroLeague is more physical than the NBA and Doncic rather infamously said it was easier to score on offense in the NBA than in EuroLeague

I mean i get where you are coming from but let's be honest it's easier to score in NBA than any other league. It's turned into a damn near dont play defense league

We got bounced from the tournament two weeks ago and have supposedly been having back channel conversations with the guys we want for months so why does it feel like we are unprepared or lagging behind everyone else?
Partially because we have Young Underwood and Hamer as part of our staff….. Kinda a like not being prepared for a common inbound play all year🤷‍♂️

At first, I think this was correct, but I believe all the 5 assistant coaches are equal now.

Wise move by Josh Dix. The only move, in my opinion. There's no place like home. Good luck, best wishes to Josh and his family.
Agreed. Never going to fault a guy for wanting to be closer to his fam, especially if the rumors about his mother dealing with sickness are true. Money can buy a lot of things, but it can’t buy time.

How does not getting Sellers have anything to do with Brad changing his mind?

Good to have Jake back. Quality 9th guy. The next piece of news will likely be the brothers, then all focus goes to the portal/Europe. Curious what this means for Ben as well.
If Hum is willing to be the 8th guy, I’d love to have him back. If him coming back means some less than ideal rotation decisions by the staff might be at risk (say playing Hum over this next year’s version of Morez), then I’d rather not have him back. That’s nothing against him, to be clear; that’s more about in-game coaching priorities.

Let’s throw a bunch of $ at Will
I know NOTHING and if I was forced to put money on it I would go NBA, but I don’t think it’s the slam dunk everyone else does. He is extremely thin/lanky. He got knocked off balance quite often and really struggled when guys were physical with him. He could really use another year to build his body for the marathon that is the NBA schedule.

To be clear I know absolutely zip. This is my opinion. I’d still go NBA, but it is not an easy decision. We’ll see.

Have a good night, gang!!!

Watch some re-runs of late 2000's Big Ten to scratch this itch.

So next years team will already be more recognizable than this past season. That I like. Run it back, Tomi!

Kind of relieved no Sellers or Dix. I didn't want them before I heard they were going to commit, and now that that fizzled I again have no interest in them. Plus it would have felt dirty rooting for an iowa guy.

I’m talking about the past 5 years of Brad recruiting. We’ve went from EDGs, to Guard U, to wanting length and athleticism, to 5 shooters even if they can’t guard their shadow.

Houston recruits the same kinda dudes every year, most consistent program in college recently. I just want Brad to be more consistent with style.

Sanogo was the only real contributor in ‘23 and yes he was extremely physical. He also wasn’t from Europe. We’re recruiting more finesse players that can shoot. Sanogo was more like Kofi

It's as simple as is there at least one NBA team out there willing to commit to drafting him in the first round. Based on the draft boards the answer is yes, so he's gone.
