Just a thought….why not hire our 3rd and high profile recruiting assistant and improve our likelihood of landing the types of kids that will get us a F4? Or am I missing something?

This dude ended Bradley's NIT run, with a last second corner dagger at PCC last week.

Not surprised he lead the nation. Great shooter.

The league Mirkovic shot 38% from the field in last year is the same one Trent went over to and immediately became a top-5 player in the league in. I love Trent, but he was never a top 5 Big Ten player. Big Ten basketball is a step up in level. I think Mirkovic could be a decent multi-year proposition but I just don't see how he's an immediate impact kind of guy.
It's also the same league/team that Tomi played for and his numbers are better than Tomi's were.

So Michigan has signed three of the top six in the portal. What’s the attraction? Is it strictly money or a combination of money and head coach?

#206
Do you have a name for the "portal PF that has been alluded to" in your post? I'm just curious. Thanks.

Hate to be that guy but if it’s Z, doesn’t really move the needle

What positions do these "several big names" play? (I understand that you shouldn't give us their names.)

Ever since Luis pooped down his shorts in the tournament and pouted on the bench instead of being a man I've been turned off from him

Watkins? Marteneeli? Just to pull names off the top of my head...
Martinelli has publicly stated that, if he doesn't stay in the Draft, he will be returning to Northwestern. (But I guess the young man could always change his mind.) You could certainly be right on Watkins. It seems like we on this Board "recruit" him every year. And I think that one of our insiders mentioned Watkins a while back.

Lee too! We're gonna need someone to direct the scUM bus into illinois potholes and break the suspension, lose a wheel, crash and miss the tip next year...with nobody hurt of course😉

Big fan of Watkins. Big bodied wing with scoring ability, would thrive here IMO. Don't know if we're on him though.

Trent was what, 24 years old?

Mirkovic was 18

I am not sold on the guy either but trying to keep an open mind I suppose
I get that, but he went straight from Big Ten to dominating that league. Dominating. MVP level numbers.

Expecting someone who plays off the bench there to come here to do better in the Big Ten than he does over there is asking a lot. Tomi's shooting percentage went down in the transition from ABA ro NCAA, not up.

Edit to add: I'm ok with him as a multi year proposition but if we're bringing this guy on as a major contributor in year 1, I'd be a little worried

he might be a little undersized but guy can SHOOT and from NY (antigua). he is alfonso plummer.
I like this guy's numbers. I like that he's athletic. I like that he's experienced. I like that he's a tough kid from Brooklyn. But he IS 5'10" tall. But how many of us will be frustrated when this player gets abused on switches in the pick and roll? And would he be willing to "only" be the backup at PG to Kylan Boswell? (Can't really play them together in my opinion.) And how much money should we be willing to pay for a backup PG/insurance policy?

Why specifically do you say Pass on Luis? (FWIW, I agree with you.) And would you say you are IN on the European player?

#221
He went 35-4 that year. Then went 27-9 the next year. At FAU.
I mean, you're playing East Carolina and Tulane.

But May isn't stupid. Looks like he's trying to build out a roster that athletically looks like most of the elite 8 teams this year.

Didn't Luis get benched in the tournament because he was being selfish and not coachable? If Pitino doesn't want him, I don't want him.
I'll pass...
I think he got benched because he was 3-17 and they were coming back and he kept bricking. Not sure it had anything to do with not being coachable.

Sure “strong team” & another non third weekend appearance. Why can’t we build a truly elite team with all the resources this program has?
Excuse Me Wow GIF by Mashable

Say what?

How was your hibernation? (They do call it the "Elite Eight")

Yup as I said I'm not sold on him as an instant impact guy either

I'm not sure what the difference is between the two leagues he played in, but it was with the same team so I'd venture to guess these leagues are similar as most of his stats were roughly equal aside from the 3pt shooting

He shot 27.3% on 88 attempts in one leage and shot 43% on 90 attempts in the other league (both leagues are 24-25 season). Neither are huge sample sizes but I'd guess his true shooting ability is somewhere between those two numbers.
