I’m not a fan of stooping to name-calling of Illini players or coaches. Discussing—even arguing—the plusses and minuses of the players and coaches of our beloved is perfect for a team-oriented message board like this and it’s definitely one of the things I come here for. And I *for sure* get just as frustrated as any Illini fan when things don’t go our way. Especially when it seems like an obvious solution is not being tried.

But seeing the name-calling that happens here makes me feel bad. If someone’s minuses are so egregious, then the facts themselves are totally sufficient to speak about the player or coach. That makes name-calling completely unnecessary and only makes our community here look bad, not the player or coach. For me, even when I wish a player or coach was performing better, and even when I critique them passionately on a message board, they’re still my boys in the orange and blue, and when gameday comes, I’ll back them to stand ‘gainst the best in the land.

I invite all my fellow fans of the beloved to set aside name-calling, and to embrace what we’ve chosen to call our community here: Illinois Loyalty.

Yup, soon as the usual 2 suspects log on to promote negativity and start their daily rioting, I'm out ✌️

There are definitely a few people that are like broken records, spewing the same ole negativity. Blah Blah Blah, Fire Hamer and his tights. He's practically Satan (Um, no, that's Bruce Pearl). Tyler's a Nepo baby (though our offense has been pretty freakin' good since he's been involved). Ben Hummer is horrible, don't let him come back at any price. This is definitely not what I'm here for.

Missing on Sarr stinks. But we all knew it was possible. He seems content to take his time which is probably good for him and really bad for the Illini. I'm glad the staff didn't put all their eggs in that basket.
The way that I look at it and this is just my opinion but if Sarr is pushing his agent for the NBA and he wants a minimum of 2.5 mil, I would be out. There would be no guarantee and it could roll for a couple more months. Kentucky, Duke and others will be in on that. Face it. We went after him and he blew up. Sometimes that's the way it goes. He went to play at the Summit against his teams wishes which means that he wanted exposure. He wanted to flood the market so that he could get the most money and perhaps go to the highest bidder.
Underwood stated in the interview yesterday that they are going after a shooting guard and a longer wing. We will be fine. I would rather get older than get SARR. He might be consistent good. He would be new to the league and the adjustment could take a few months. Then again, he could be a bust. Personally, I would rather have someone with viable college experience behind them. One more thing. What about leaving his team? I see that as a red flag. I don't think that has really been mentioned. I don't think we MISSED on him. There is no telling how many teams were already negotiating behind the scene. Lots of questions. I say. Let's get old.

Can the insiders pass on to the staff that this board really needs some good news today? I’m 73% sure they use this thread as a barometer of the Illini fanbase. /s
I don't think so. Most of the people that I know that are fans could care less about these forums. They are excited about Illini hoops and just go to cheer and have a great time. Example of that would be my brother and some of his family and friends. They don't even keep up with the portal but he will have season tickets this year an support the team. He suffered through the previous coaches and finally got turned on enough to get back to State Farm.

Is it possible to get any more specific on the whispers against Illinois basketball that was mentioned yesterday? @FI_8905
Not gonna discuss specifics or what I have been told by a few of our boosters and also some from other states, but lets just say if you were a top recruit looking at schools and another player that played at said school told you there was a major issue with the team being ran by some 20 something kids and one was a fathers son who knows he can say or do whatever he feels like, would you go there? The TU and ZH issues might be bigger than you think.

Uh oh, someone other than our resident Insiders is pointing out possible issues with our program that seem very reasonable albeit negative?

Sorry if this was previously mentioned, but are we still looking into Ian Jackson, or has this ship now sailed a long ways away???

I really hope that I am wrong, but I have a sinking feeling that we are going to regret letting the carousel pass us by this go round and passing on our changes to hire either Miller or Wade. I want Brad to be successful here, but for the myriad reasons mentioned here in other posts this thing just seems to be trending in the wrong direction. Really thought we'd have Mike Boynton or someone of his caliber on staff at this point, instead...crickets.
