I agree, but if we will spend hypothetically 4- 5 M on Andrej, why not get back in the Sarr bidding war for those numbers? Do we think Andrej would a better long term investment? Cause you have now set your own bar, and it will cost at least that much to bring Andrej back next year or he walks.
IANAI

In your hypothetical, 4-5MM for Stoj would be a huge misevaluation of the market by the staff, considering better players have gone for less. Several have indicated his price is just under 3, which seems closer to market value. Brad’s model leaves us looking for multiple high value players each offseason, so this is the game we will continue to have to play in order to maintain relevancy, I assume.

Uh, 247 hasn't rated Andrej yet. And on3 has him rated as a 95, vs 94 for Morez.

The way I understand it, Henderson re-opening his recruitment (to go to Miami) got Nate Ament to re-open his recruitment from Tennessee to potentially Duke which caused Adams to re-open his recruitment from UConn to potentially Tennessee.

Have to love second and third order effects.

The price for Andrej is over $3 million as of this evening ...
I have a question which you likely know the answer to. Let's say the Illini win the bidding war for Andrej at $3M. Does Illinois take an insurance policy out on him to recoup the investment in the event he is injured and cannot play, or do they just pay him and move on?

The one with Morez a spot ahead is the composite rankings. On3 actually has Morez ranked in the 50’s, Andrej in the 30’s.

Not sure what site they are using that brings the composite for Morez up so high though.

And Miller is in the Portal. That control should be nil now. It's entirely possible one of the other Irvins is now influencing things. I'm not sure I believe in the here and now that Miller is being influenced by any of the Irvins....

Ummm, I doubt this is what happened. Assistant coaches changing schools doesn't mean you get to bring a stable of guys with you from your old school. Methinks the Head Coach will approve/disapprove who comes along. Young may have approved Hansberry but not Harris. Who knows? Perhaps Sencire Harris just wanted a completely clean slate, no Illinois, no former coaches from UI or WV. Cincinnati is a pretty decent landing spot. Maybe he wants a fresh set of coaches to try and get more out of him than the staffs at UI and WV were able to get?
Harris is also from Ohio (went to Lebron’s old HS I believe). Could have been a factor.

These services are free to lazily rank 2000 transfers however they choose to. Which is understandable given there's no feasible way to sift through that many and apply attributes/ratings to them with any sort of reasonable accuracy or depth.

But there's also a reason Morez got $1.5M and Andrej is getting $3M and has a far more robust offer/interest list.

Editing to add the interest and offers Andrej is getting is on par with all of the other top portal guys... Dent, Gillespie, Jackson, Wright, etc

The University of Illinois is not paying him $3mm. A collective of boosters would be cutting the checks.

It is the Wild West and nothing seems enforced. But if they are paying for Name Image and Likeness and not for play taking an insurance policy looks questionable.

Happy Easter Everyone! Could be wrong, but I don't think we see much today in general across the sport. Sit back, enjoy time with family, and I think things are going to get moving pretty quickly starting tomorrow.
Happy Easter!

Given you said Ace has until end of the weekend before we move on and you don't think we'll much today, do you believe the staff is moving on?

Illinois wouldn’t they aren’t the ones paying him.

For the 1st time in years I paid under $4.00 a dozen at a Sprouts of all places! It's only 1c under that $4.00, but I splurged and bought 2 dozen!

Happy Easter!
