Oh man… you just awakened a 15 year old craving.St. Louis Kolache Co. is a must stop breakfast destination for my family every time we are down that way. Would be awesome to get one in Champaign!
TBH, I am more excited about Jamir Watkins, overall, but not sure where he places in the draft! Is there any indication that we would lose due to the financials? Everything I have seen from insiders has indicated we have the largest offer with room to increase. I think if we lose this recruiting battle, it will be because AS feels he has found a better fit with another suitor. The good news is, it seems like our other targets are waiting to see what he does.
Just because we assessed a player's worth lower than they ended up didn't mean we weren't capable of spending on that player. We just pivoted to a similar player for the price we wanted to pay. I wouldn't call that outbid. I call that smart resource allocation. We've been outbid for multiple recruits already this offseason.
Which happens first, an Andrej commitment, Shedeur Sanders gets drafted or a new pope?
Pretty confident it's us.
Very good point.Just because we assessed a player's worth lower than they ended up didn't mean we weren't capable of spending on that player. We just pivoted to a similar player for the price we wanted to pay. I wouldn't call that outbid. I call that smart resource allocation.
Would this be accurate though? If he chooses UNC you’ll hear “Illinois had a deal, he said he was coming, then he backed out”. Newest villain.
60% of the time you are 80% correct...I think there is a 100% chance we will or won't get him.
Nah they've been a villain here for quite a while...If he chooses UNC you’ll hear “Illinois had a deal, he said he was coming, then he backed out”. Newest villain.
He’s talking about Andrej not UNC…Nah they've been a villain here for quite a while...
I think it’s time to admit we lost him
I think the Mickey D lawyers are still finalizing the 'Nuggets for Life' language in the NIL agreement. He’s talking about Andrej not UNC…
I feel confident given the insiders info. On top of that the facts that he’s not seeming to go on any visits, isn’t getting any crystal balls elsewhere, and the fact that we’re the ones who got him in the portal
73% of all statistics are made up.60% of the time you are 80% correct...
NO. Things can always unlock. Ridiculous statement."It was a lock, then things changed"

A potential "larger underlying issue at play"? Gosh, I hope not. For the sake of Illinois basketball moving forward. And because I can't bear to watch/read the over-analysis on this site, and the tear-down of the Illinois staff and culture.I am fine with this. It is a very important decision for this young man. It is actually refreshing to see the player taking charge (not the agent/handlers).
However, if he does take less money to go to UNC, then there is a larger underlying issue at play, as it is not just money leading key players to go elsewhere.
I prefer to remain optimistic for now.
I am with you, and let's do this! Thank you for all of your input and patience (with us) through this process.Final decision has been made privately from what I heard. Graphic could be released at any time, not even going to guess a timeline at this point. Shouldn't go past Tuesday worse case is what I will say. Pretty confident it's us.
Small chance he picks UNC, but we have way more things working in our favor right now.
