In my eyes it seemed like the guys really bonded well and enjoyed each other, and THEN made a special memory of reaching a Final Four. Those guys are battle tested together and bonded through the struggles of last year and hopefully that will play some role in their decisions to stay. IF we can keep Mirk and the twins without grossly overpaying I'll be ecstatic.

I thought the story at the time of Skyy's transfer was that he needed to because Brad was a mean coach. Would be the greatest of ironies if he got the extra year and then transferred back.

I had mentioned to my son during the B10 tournament that Skyy was playing the way we hoped Boswell would -- playing lock up D and hitting open thress. I actually think Skyy matured a lot -- Mick actually was super complimentary of him as a player and especially on defense this year -- but nearly impossible to see him circling back to Illinois.

That was Epps. Skyy left on good terms with the coaching staff and moved back home to be close to his dad, who had a terminal disease. From what I remember, he separated from the team for a while, and before he left, his parting message to the fans was that he was having some difficulties that he needed to sort out, and he asked for understanding and privacy when he left. His dad (a former NFL wide receiver) passed away several months ago.

We'll probably never find out, but I would love to know what happened with Petro. How does a guy go from an MVP candidate in a European professional league to unplayable in college, seemingly overnight?
Is it possible he would actually be ok to good with a legitimate chance to earn a role in the offseason (not assuming he even wants to). Obviously most of us don’t know what practices look like, but I hesitate to fully evaluate a guy who gets token minutes and gets taken out every time he makes a mistake. There’s a lot of ground between not being as good as a lottery pick and completely sucking.

That said, I did always worry that he was going to get called for carrying the ball when he did play.

It wasn't a bad season but disappointing season considering they were preseason number 1 and didn't get to the FF, is that fair? Me personally I would be disappointed with that result.

Sesame Street Idk GIF
Not to mention, they were preseason #1 and finished 7th in their own conference. Definitely disappointing. Tell them before the season started that Nebraska would finish ahead of them and I'm pretttty sure that wouldn't fly in Lafayette.

I’m not sure shipping your whole client list from one program (where they won) to another is actually all that great for all your clients in the long run.

But we’ll see

Yeah he is asking $2M for a guy who averaged 6ppg on a bad team, so I’m not sure he’s the sharpest tool in the shed. Hopefully it’s a lot of nothing and we can retain our guys at a reasonable price.

Negotiations are still going on, but feel pretty good about everyone that we want to keep.
Thanks for the update thus far captain.....So Chief ? Can you do us a small favor? Tell the guy's their already in Legacy mode in men's Illinois basketball history. Now play them some Nelly (with a little mash-up), two isn't a winner, and three nobody remembers...You are and can be number one!

R-E-L-A-X.

Negotiations are in a good spot, no one is going to North Carolina.

I’m in a spot with the staff, that the whole roster, with or without Balkan ties, could bounce to UNC and I still would be relaxed.

Agreed, we need to keep at least one of them. I am very intrigued in Bilic. Mirk says he has got talent.
On Bilic, who knows? I hope you (and Mirk) are right. And I remember that Petrovic was lauded...Until he actually played in games.
