Huge step back but we always say Wisconsin sucks every offseason and ends up top 5. So who knows until the games are played. Painter needs to bring his A game in coaching to get to the top echelon of the conference.
There's talent in that group too, it's not like those are a bunch of walk ons.

Purdue has paid those guys to sit and wait and learn. Add their good incoming class and a former Ivy League POY and there is potential there, plus a team that will build over the next three years, it will really be all underclassmen except for the Princeton kid.

Painter could field a rotation of 8 circus clowns and win games.

He’s already done that before

I bet Petro will have more success at a school that doesn't value defense as much as us....kind of similar to a couple other sparingly used younger guards in the past few years.

He has already been very good at a HIGHER level. Just didn't adjust well to an extremely different style of basketball and got his chain snatched by a kid that looks approximately 20 years younger than he does.

It may be the best thing to just go back home, but I'd love to see him have another crack at CBB.
I don't think that the Montenegro pro league is a higher level than the Big Ten. There are 3 NBA lottery picks playing in the Big Ten this year with another 2-3 first round draft picks. Sure, they are older, but the Montenegro league doesn't have athletes like Lendenborg and Morez Johnson.

Could pretty much see this one coming. He will be a great point guard for someone I'm sure.
Lee and Fagbemi will probably be next.

Wish him the best. Thought he should’ve been given more opportunities. Don’t think he’ll be a Podz type of transfer but think he’ll be solid starter.
He reminds me of Curbelo a bit. Not necessarily as a player or style comp, but just as a player who will be a unique fit for some teams and a unique misfit for others. Petro just wasn’t made for this offense, but in another offense he may be just what they need.

Exit interviews went pretty well. If nothing else, they know where they stand with the players. Now it’s time to talk more to the agents and finalize deals. Could happen fairly quickly.

Yep - I would think Illinois wants to recruit 2 in the transfer portal (and I don't think given the history of this coaching staff) that there is any true public info as to whom Brad and co are really pursuing. Which means with the new scholarship limit, one more player has to go.

I think we are going to see announcements 1 at a time, so the Illini staff can help the departing players maximize their market value. The other teams in our conference already know what our likely roster looks like, but wouldn't indicate anything publicly.
