Can’t wait for the summer session media availability where a rising senior calls him "cold" and predicts he will be a highly impactful player 🙂

(Note: Not expecting Q to be a direct Wagler replacement)
You'll also see the spliced video of him making 20 in a row, then watch the buildup grow from there. That was always the Ty Rodgers off-season hype video. We'd see him draining threes in practice, then he took 1 all season.

Talked to a few people who have seen Quentin Coleman at a couple of the recent events, including the Iverson right now and the Jordan event a couple weeks ago.

Safe to say, there is a considerable amount of hype building.
Watched his highlights the other day and I thought, "wow, he reminds me of Keaton." Except he can dunk. If he plays at all anywhere near as good as Keaton did this year, watch out.

We ran into him while in Indy for the final four. He seemed like a really grounded kid in the limited time we talked to him. This has nothing to do with anything except that I wanted to post about it.

They beat us for Chris Collins, and we took Keene after. The first recruiting battle I ever followed.
I have told this story many times. I held Richard Keene to 7 points in a game……

It kind of all blurs with time….. but I think it went like this: 1st possession— hard close out, rip through by Keene, dunk.

2nd possession: medium close out, 2 dribble middie… splash.

3rd possession: catch and shoot 3.

Whistle, benched, played again but did not guard Keene.

Thus, I held him to 7 points when I guarded him!

Not saying they'll be better, but I think our backcourt will be a lot more athletic.

Think you can now also slide AS to the 2 and Jake to 3 more when needed.

Can the cow play the 4, or is it just here to help boost our cottage cheese production?

Isn't this the type of thing that used to lead to getting a team mascot? Not particularly scary, but there aren't many things more "Illinois" than cows...
Illinois Fighting Cattlemen?

Orange Corral for the student section?

Better than the Kingfisher

Way better run-jump athletic, likely better defender, 2-3 inchees shorter.

Highly unlikely he has the court vision/feel for the game that Keaton had. Very few players, Illini or otherwise, have that level of "basketball IQ."

Don’t think Keene was ever going anywhere other than Illinois.

His cousin posts here maybe we can ask him. @RichardKeenesCousin
He may have been coming here either way, but Lou was after Collins initially. I loved Richard Keene. I wore 24 my 6th grade year because I wanted to be him.

From the article:
For one thing, Collins spurned Illinois in 1992, when as the state's Mr. Basketball out of Glenbrook North he decided to become a Duke Blue Devil rather than a Fighting Illini. Illinois coach Lou Henson instead settled for the '92 Mr. Basketball runner-up Richard Keene of Collinsville, whose hair may actually have been the state's biggest prize.

A much swaggier in-your-face personality too from the looks of it, he's not an iceman like Wagler.

Besides being mop-haired freshman guards from Greater Missouri who can really shoot it, they don't seem to have much in common.

Well, consider at the moment that we don’t have any “walk on” level players on the roster yet… unless you consider Fagbemi to be of that caliber. While scholarships are now available to a roster of 15 max players, that doesn’t mean the staff couldn’t add a walk on type from the current student body as is routinely done. That would bring the roster up to 14 and Brad generally likes to leave one spot open for mid season additions.

Agree, but was wondering how they feel about that next level, practice, etc. Seems like historically they've added one more

Meaning mid-season? Right now we have 13 + Fagbemi which is what we go into every single year with (but have added guys mid season 3x which is why we will likely stay at 14 going into the season).
