Competition levels are pretty awful if you watch the games. Prep schools definitely better tune-up for college ball.
Yeah, he’s not going to find a lot of resistance continuing in Central Illinois. The prep circuit will consistently put him against high major talent. The B1G will be less of a shock.
It’s harder to identify weaknesses and work on your game when you are always the best player on the court.

But besides Yaxel on pure offense those other guys just played as better versions of their game. It’s not like morez went from scoring 20 a game and same with Mara. They were underutilized players.

Also think everyone wants to assume Juke is Yaxel 2.0 but he was projected an early second round pick, Yaxel was a top 20 guy last year coming back. I hated Yaxel but he was a really special player.

100% title contenders I just think they are 1 of 8 not this juggernaut.
It’s also going to be tough to replicate what Yaxel gave them defensively, which was IMO, really the difference maker for them last year.
6’10” POA defenders don’t grow on trees, especially ones who are equally versatile on offense. Guys like that tend to get drafted…early.

As a side note, toured the Duke campus recently as part of a college visit for my nephew. It looks like Hogwarts.
Story is that Mr. Duke offered Princeton a ton of dough, on condition that they rename the school after him. They said no, so he built his own university, matching the style and several of the buildings (complete with soft concrete so it would age faster).
Most of this is probably myth, but it's a good story.
Like calling Stanford "the Leland Stanford JUNIOR University."

How I see it:

them and Duke are the clear top 2 (preseason).

Then it’s splitting hairs between Michigan / Tennessee / Illinois / UCONN.

If I had to rank it: Florida, Duke, Illinois, Michigan, Tennessee, UCONN. (off of the assumption that Morez is gone)

I’m just not sure Michigan has that number 1 scorer (which Yaxel was). They’ll likely still be great defensively… but it’s unrealistic to think Yaxel / Morez / Mara —> McCoy / Estrella / Thiam isn’t somewhat of a downgrade.

Thiam is a beast. I didn't know Michigan had him.

Stop with the nonsense. It didn't effect Wagler or Ayo. Prep schools are overrated and not what they are used to be. Kitt plays at East Peoria for 3 years and now he wants to go to prep school where he won't be seen and playing in front of small crowds and terrible gyms. He could have been the all-time leading scorer of all-time, jersey retired and a legend. Does any body still hear a about Devin Cleveland or Davion Thompson who both went to prep school and are playing 15 -20 minutes per game. If they all would take the route Jaxon Davis has taken then those players could have been all-time greats. Playing for a prep school doesn't guarantee playing against better competition. Kitt plays for one of the best AAU programs in the nation, MEANSTREETS, they play against good competition every week.

Brad also said it’s invaluable to have everyone here for the summer for multiple reasons yet here we are with said player missing. Why? What are we waiting on?

Summer doesn't start for another month

These list don't include pre-2000. Deon Thomas, Marcus Liberty, Nick Anderson, Frank Williams, Marcus Griffin, several others were MCAA.

Was Kendall Gill? He was an absolute stud that had a good NBA career.
Deron I believe was in the 50s. Also a stud.

My bet would be this likely doesn’t happen. Brad’s main focus is to have everybody here for the summer.
what? i think brad's main focus is on putting together a winning team. and if he thinks adding one more can help regardless of when they arrive, then he will do just that. it's not ideal but it's not a given negative.

Florida clearly has no issue loaded up on talent. This dude definitely wont start but will be a valuable bench piece.

With our overseas success, not sure why we can’t do the same. Would help to fill out a realistic 9 deep.
Yeah we haven’t done anything this offseason /s

We have, are and will continue to do the same and more.

You remain one of the worst and most impatient and ill-informed posters I’ve seen on here. Why don’t you do some research and exhibit some patience instead of whining about what every other program is doing with this ‘hey look at what they are doing we should do that’ nonsense that you spew every time you post. Programs like Florida are mimicking us not the other way around on going overseas. We’ve been there and done that and will continue to.

I have held back on responding to you because all you do is cry and whine constantly and have really wild and crazy opinions and views.

Kendall was not a McDAA. Rankings didn't go as deep then as they do now.

Of the 3 guards in that class (Smith, Bardo, Gill), Larry Smith was the highest rated (e.g., ranked 28 by Hoop Scoop (who ranked Nick 8th that year)).
Bardo was coming off an injury and Gill was the skinny but athletic kid who hadn't physically developed yet, but was continuously improving. Nick was the only McDAA and Parade AA in that class.

I don't believe Kendall was highly rated. Bardo, Anderson and Larry Smith were all ranked higher
