It cracks me up that some people on here don’t know how hard 4:19 mile is. Ben is a massive basketball player not a track guy.
I heard it waz Pappa Dels n pastaNo insider. But heard Ben went on a strict cottage cheese diet (no toppings) weeks prior to the big run.
DJ Richardson set the team record in the Self days as a freshman and I don’t think he broke 5:00.
There’s a lot of room between damn good mile runner and 4:19 at 230 lbs.
You could say that about any player his age.My kingdom for QK to sprout up to 6'9"(+) by the time he gets here.
Holy S*** if that were to happen!!!

You should know for a fact that he will be listed at 6'9" by somebody at sometime. Most college teams do that and then when they get to the NBA combine, they lose an inch or two.he's been at 6' 6" for at least a year now, so I think that's highly unlikely
Michigan is #2 in the overall 247 recruiting rankings. Yes they lost a lot, but I'm not sure how you can say they haven't done much to replace it. There's only one team ahead of them, Duke. Plus with Dusty May's track record of being a great coach, it shouldn't be surprising to see them in the top 5.I'm not sure how Illinois having 2 good players that force opposing defenses to make decisions would affect what Michigan's roster looks like, but maybe I'm missing your point there.
Michigan lost more production than probably any team in the entire nation (Lendeborg, Morez, Mara and 2 super senior gaurds) and hasn't done much to replace it.
Running on a track makes it harder to come up with “elite” times.Wouldn't you think they just run this on a track?
I'd hope for the complete opposite just to rub it into that fanbase (also, Scheyer doesn't seem like an insufferable character at all to me).And it would be fun to watch Scheyer squirm at a lesser school who can't afford Duke quality players
For comparison, a 4:19 mile would be a 13.9 MPH pace.View attachment 50433
12.8 miles/hr is a 4:40 mile. And running on a treadmill is a helluva lot different than running on a track. A Division 1 athlete with some motivation will run faster in free space.
I think Ben is (was) is capable.
Based on watching his videos, he seems to be a good 3 pt. shooter. The issue with Morillo is teams will be inclined to sag off. His 3pt attempt rate will be quite low, and if percentages don’t follow suit, path to playing time will be a little more difficult.
It’s impossible to know whether someone’s a good shooter or not just by watching videos of them making a shot.Based on watching his videos, he seems to be a good 3 pt. shooter.
4:19 is an incredibly good mile time but I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility for a D1 basketball player to do.It cracks me up that some people on here don’t know how hard 4:19 mile is. Ben is a massive basketball player not a track guy.
I feel completely differently. Unless an athlete is training to run that distance or longer at a fast pace, you just won't see D1 basketball conditioned athletes just trot out and run a sub 4:20 mile on the track. Basketball conditioning is completely different than miler conditioning...short bursts, fast twitch, and hops are focused on over the sustained effort needed to be able to run that sort of mile time.4:19 is an incredibly good mile time but I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility for a D1 basketball player to do.
Especially so a guy with long strides like Ben. Has the build to be a good mid distance runner tbh.
Every single guy on my high school basketball team except one ran a sub 6 minute mile. The only guy that didn't was a chubby backup center and he was still like 6.5.
A couple guys ran sub 5s and none of us were D1 caliber athletes(the one kid was flirting running sub 5 in 8th grade track).

Ty Rodgers who can shoot? He's not a particularly good 3 pt shooter. That said I like him. He seems like a good fit off the bench for us because he can play all over the court.
We’re just not in the same realm as Duke or Florida, as it stands preseason, in terms of defensive upside and superior top-end talent. Our roster is very talented, but those two are in a tier of their own at the moment.INI...Why not a #1 preseason ranking? Because our name isn't Duke, I suppose. The guy we seem to be sleeping on is Morillo. Watching his film, I see a guy who has played the point, and seems to be comfortable. He seems to be strong with the ball and a clever passer as well as a dangerous 3 pt. shooter I'd like three 6-7 guards. That's the kind of length who would be a nightmare to guard.
I agree 100%. Our fans almost alway overrate our talent. Duke and probably Florida are straight up more talented teamsWe’re just not in the same realm as Duke or Florida, as it stands preseason, in terms of defensive upside and superior top-end talent. I think #3 is the highest ranking for us that’s justifiable.
