Having Stirtz on the roster was the difference between Iowa and Indiana. Iowa was 10-10 in conference and Indiana was 9-11.

Stirtz was a bona fide NBA draft choice who just followed McCollum from Drake. There wasn't a choice to be had. He fell into Iowa's lap. Indiana was running Conner Enright out there.

If they didn't have Stirtz, that's not a tournament team and if they didn't have him in the tournament, we would have beaten them by 40. He was the only reason that game was remotely close.

If Stirtz fell in Indiana's lap, they would have been WORLDS better than IU. They had more talent than Iowa everywhere, but the PG position and there was a Grand Canyon gap between the two.

All I'm saying is let it play out. Indiana has a ton of money to play with. We're seeing the difference right now. Wabbington was choosing between Arizona(home state), Illinois(features bigs that have the green light from anywhere) and IU has nothing to latch on to but money. It sure looks like we know what won out.
Devries had Wilkerson. He had a scorer but did nothing to help him out. He built a !!!!!! roster much like Woodson. Lot of talent and names but poor fit. It has nothing to do with Iowa having more talent than Indiana or having Stirtz. My point is Devries didn't build a good roster, didn't coach well with what he had, and they had similar records/similar roster rebuilds but one is a much better coach than the other. That's on Devries.

Devries has another chance this year with the roster he built, lets see if he got the right pieces.

Wabbington went to IU, because of the Adidas affiliation. He has been with Adidas for quite a bit and is considered one of their main focuses. The "shoe war" continues, and Adidas was not going to lose this one.

IDK, Wabbington went to IU to get his best chance to play and get paid. I think we are a better fit for those 4 & 5 stars players who still want to prove who they are. I wish he came here, but I hope he ends up a soft stat stuffing 2nd rounder now, on a team that barely makes the dance and goes home early.

I have no hard feelings against the young man, wish him the best of luck except when he plays the beloved.
