maybe for tonight we hold the hot takes and just take the L
A true hot take would be saying we finish the season 3-9. Being disappointed and criticizing the play from tonight is warranted.

Coach B has his work cut out for him going into next week. I think the team can turn it around, but it will take a lot of looking in the mirror. We simply need to be tougher than we saw tonight (both physically and mentally).

Relax…. yeah we got s**t kicked. IU is really good and we are not top 10. Move past it…. lose by 3 or lose by 50… it is one loss. Hope for a recovery and a good season.
This is a reasonable perspective only if you want to erase all context. There were recognizable patterns that contributed to the size of this beatdown that have existed for weeks and will contribute to our next losses if not recognized and corrected. Those are worth discussion here. As they say, hope is not a strategy.

Next 4-5 weeks would like to see the team grow and fix some areas. Realistically will not be all of them. Coaches and players need to leave their egos in Bloomington. Gonna be a rough few weeks against some really good teams, but need to setup for second half stretch.

100% health wouldn't have changed the outcome much

Is anyone really surprised by this? This is being an Illini football fan in a nutshell. Get a glimmer of hope then have it snatched away in the blink of an eye. We all knew this wasn't a legit top 10 team let's be real.

Kudos to Indiana. Indiana played awesomely and dominated both offense and defense. Hoosier QB Mendoza is excellent, composed and pin-point accuracy. Indiana will now be considered a contender with the OSU, Oregon, PSU crowd as they showed last year but IU may be even better this year. Illini not so much.

Some of you owe the ‘pessimists’ an apology
I'll bite. Congrats to you and all the 'pessimists' for being right and calling this one. Saying we had no chance and didn't belong on the field. Well done. Awesome job. Bravo. You really nailed it. Your combined fervor for how bad we were going to get beaten was truly transcendental. In fact during the past at least 25 years or so, I do not recall a single time one of our pregame threads was that embarrassingly pessimistic. And you were correct. Amazing stuff. We are lucky to have you all as fans, because having people be this correct and celebrate their accuracy is just such a blessing.

I was told by similar 'fans' the Cubs would never win it all in my lifetime, that the Blackhawks had even less of a chance. That they'll blow it just like they always do in embarrassing fashion. So thank God you're more correct than them. Because man, I can't stand when those people at the bar scream about how we suck and will never win or have a chance, and then be wrong. Those losers. But not you guys, you guys are winners and deserve all the applause and gravitas it brings.

So enjoy being right, enjoy knowing this was going to happen tonight. And you have my sincerest apologies for ever doubting you.

Kind of feels like the 110-67 Duke hoops debacle. And I traveled to both. I’m so jealous of the lucky bastards who watched this from their couch. Not going to be a fun drive back tomorrow. Hungover angry……

Got a lot of thoughts, but Bart Miller needs to be gone pronto and back to the HS ranks. 5th year and his lines never get any better
I totally get the Bart Miller firing and I believe it’s warranted no doubt… However, why is no one giving this same energy about Barry Lunney?! LOL this man is !!!!ing awful at calling games. I have seen high level high school coaches make better adjustments and game plans in games better than Barry Lunney can. These long developing plays almost got Luke killed numerous times… I didn’t understand the running up the middle or between the tackles on 1st and 2nd down. They were stacking the box and for the most part, running a simple zone. We weren’t utilizing extra blockers, we weren’t moving the pocket for Luke, zero picking routes, we never once kept the defense honest. This staff speaks so highly on our RPO but our RPO was abysmal tonight. Barry Lunney is hot garbage and has been for years. I knew tonight was going to be a challenge because we don’t have the clip or the play caller to compete with a high powered offense and it’s very obvious. If Bret wants success in Champaign in the near future, it’s time he starts to consider changes within this coaching staff.

On that, not sure if it's been stated yet but Bert said in the post game presser we only had 10 guys on the field for that play. That's unfathomable.
What’s ironic about this. Is the game truly flipped against Duke when they had two #8s on the field… Tonight we had 10 guys on a punt formation which lead to a massive momentum swing. This team and coaching staff never left the hotel. I thought this staff was competent enough to catch things like this… You practice punt and punt formations EVERY DAY. So my question is… Who in the hell was just standing on the sidelines watching, when they were supposed to be in the game? You have a job to do and you’re watching 10 of your brothers stand on the field?

INDIANA only had 10 players on the field, yet still managed to get one through untouched to block that punt. Arkin watched the guy run right past. Terrible.
