Eh, semantics, but what I felt like I saw was a bunch of predictions of us coming out and “playing our game” and being no match for Indiana. That very well might have happened, but I bet even the pessimists didn’t think they’d see a Duke-at-MSG-esque travesty.

I think FBS needs to redefine that call. The object is to discourage players from making dangerous, potentially head-injurious hits, is it not?
If there is a flag for targeting, but the replay clearly shows -- as it did in this case -- that the hit was never going to cause a head injury, then the flag needs to be picked up.

honestly kind of bad luck with the lowery sack very early. i was amazed in looking at the replay that mendoza hung on to the ball, but lowery and the other uw transfer didn’t do much at wisconsin and, outside of that play, didn’t do much tonight in their first b10 game here.

What I don’t understand is why OL has been a weak spot every season and we haven’t seen a change in assistant coaching.
They barely blitzed. It was their front 4 pushing our 5 back, and then Luke having zero pocket awareness.

Remember playing Wisconsin in 2021 for Homecoming and getting destroyed and dominated on both lines. Men against boys. It was disheartening. It looked like we’d never win another game. Yup, had 2 weeks to figure out how to fix what happened and they didn't...the staff had no answers. We are cooked against good coaches this year.
i have to say that (a) he is right and i think we all saw what he saw (not you, bart miller) and (b) i was gonna say i like his frankness but that’s just saying he’s right again. i don’t even hate to say it: i like the guy.
Agreed. And perhaps it’s somewhat of coaching problem but it always starts in the trenches, if you don’t have those guys, you can’t be consistently successful. So obvious but often taken for granted. Likewise, they have better players than we do. This incredibly insightful precept will also be relevant at Soldier Field tomorrow. I fortunately got in when Dallas was +1.5.

I am worried though, I am also a Texas Rangers fan, a fanbase with a surprising amount of twitter pessimists. They were panicked about the Rangers offense since late April and the arrogant and idiotic Rangers beat writers had snarky comments about the kneejerkers. Problem is, the haters were completely right and the Rangers sucked at hitting lol. I really do not want to be a fan of another such situation, especially from a team that has proven to routinely to top its most pessimistic fans worst fears.

But what I don’t understand is that there are many ways to shore up the edges with extra blockers such as TE/Fullbacks or even extra lineman especially when you know that your linemen are not up to the job.
