Sorry to be a ref apologist, but on the replay he was fumbling with his whistle BEFORE the entry pass into Kofi. It was very unfortunate timing all around.

I know it is your opinion, Pru. That's just what I saw on that play.

Back to our regular scheduled "Blame Belo for All Things" programing.
It really is funny to see the blame Belo crowd. 28 mins of play now. It's like what have you done for me lately. The guy played great D, had 4 assists, and had 10 rebounds. If you are 1-7, however, I understand the hesitation with Belo taking the last shot. But BU has faith in the guy.

As usual, the fanbase is split today between half full and half empty. Count me as half empty after today I guess. We've seen this all year. We have a ton of talent and guys with a ton of heart. We have not been able to put everything together, consistently for long stretches of the season - hell, sometimes for long stretches of games. Again, not the end of the world to lose in the B10 tournament, but would have preferred tomorrow not today against a mediocre team.

This is a good team, not a great team. Doesn't mean I don't support them and wish the best for them every single game. But it is frustrating to have a two time All American/three time All B10 player, two super seniors, 2 super talented sophomores, and a solid group of freshmen struggling to play consistently well. Yes, we won a share of the B10 for which I'm very grateful. But we did that while losing to Maryland on the road when they were playing nowhere near where they were late in the season, and losing to Ohio St at home in a game we probably should have won. That is fine, those games happen in the B10.

But they have not passed the eye test in the last month of the season. Careless possessions and turnovers, prolonged scoreless streaks, no adjusting for guys like Plummer going cold. These things should not be happening for a team poised to make a long run. Maybe I expect too much, but that is what I am seeing. And it's disappointing knowing we will lose the heart and soul of the team in Trent and be relying on several new guys next year. When will our program put it all together? This is the third time period over the years that I've seen a team with the talent and a realistic shot at winning it all (last year and this year included in this 3rd time period), but I feel that is slipping away yet again. 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 turnover
Amazed at people that want him benched.
Same with Hawk. 18 pts, 2 steals, 4/7 from 3 point
Guess people watch a different game.
I just don’t get why a shooter as good as he is, struggles so much with free throws. Hawkins, I mean.

Belo and Hawkins were outstanding today. I really wish we could have won today if only to get Coleman more minutes to continue his momentum.

We had two big droughts of scoring where we had plenty of opportunities to make shots. We got great looks and didn't make them.

1-7 FG and 3-7 FT. He does a lot, but has to clean it up. Was he the reason we lost, no, just part of it. Guards shooting is concerning

Oh I'm 'glad' it's JYO. Does not passing the eye test include wins @MSU, @UM, Iowa in the last month and winning the conference title? I just want to check to make sure those games actually counted or if they were an illusion.

Curbelo HAS to clean up his game. It's not just dumb mistakes, it's the times of the game of those dumb mistakes. For every nice play he has 3 bad ones.
This is demonstrably untrue. The lack of basketball knowledge confidently displayed by some commenters is mind boggling. Good thing BU likes alphas who aggressively push the tempo and make plays.

Yes, I know my opinion is worth way less than yours. Thanks for pointing that out. Like I said, I appreciate all that they have done. But I'm talking long term, big picture. I thought that was clear in my post.

I skimmed the comments and our fans hating on Curbelo is as crazy as those hating on Hawkins the other day. I will 100% take the tradeoffs of what he brings vs his errors. He is a gamer who makes plays. That last layup was off by a hair. That's how far away he was from winning us the game. And honestly, even if you think he should be out, without Jake who else is even an option at this point? His missed free throws were the only thing that annoyed me, but otherwise he was good.

I also would have loved to hear the board reaction if it was Curbelo and not Frazier who threw that ball away at the end. Would have been crazy. With Trent, though, its easier to accept that mistakes happen...or most likely you guys just blamed Hawkins. That seems more likely.
Some did. Obviously he wasn’t where he should have been.

You pointed it out not me. I just replied to what you said.

And you aren't talking long term. You just said in the last month, now it's long term. Sure. Long term we are a top 15-20 team and won the conference title and will be going into the NCAA tournament as a top 4 seed.

Just sunk in that this game was the last game for Trent and DWil

No it's just how up and down this team plays. Absolutely zero consistency

Dude, I literally said in my post "When will our program put it all together?" I'm expressing frustration that we have so much talent and have yet to win a national championship as a program. Now, hopefully we miraculously do that in the next three weeks. But, based on the last month of the season, I am not optimistic of that happening. I'm not going to argue with you as you clearly have a desire to do so. Have a great day, and go Illini!

Curbelo HAS to clean up his game. It's not just dumb mistakes, it's the times of the game of those dumb mistakes. For every nice play he has 3 bad ones. One example, misses front end of one and one, then gets blown by his man for a layup. That's where coach needs to hold him accountable for the mistakes. The Plummer disappearing act is just baffling. But I for one, would love for Curbelo to clean up his game and situational awareness during crunch time. If you take it to the hole, make the layup. Not some cutesy flip in hopes it drops. That's all i got. hopefully the veteran team will show up in the Dance and play a full 40.

What mistakes did Belo have today? He had one glaring turnover on a post entry but other than that I thought we was really good (especially on the rebounding aspect).

He botched a layup at the end. It was a physical mistake which is going to happen. I've pulled my hair out on Belo many times this year but he played really well.
