Just brutal. Brutal. At the end of the day gotta make your open threes. Sadly we missed ours down the stretch. This loss hurts. The effort we played with was deserving of the win. Really tough loss. I thought that one was going down for RJ. I really did. Ugh...
I was surprised that RJ was in the game for the last shot after sitting most of the 2nd half. No way he makes that shot.

Three point shooting was the difference in the 2nd half. They made theirs we missed ours.

What annoys me the most about this team is you can see what they can be, there is a lot of youth on this team. The problem is the top 2 guys will be gone. Wish we had 1 more year of development for the young guys with Mayer and Shannon.
Even if they both had a year left, we are now in an environment where transfers/NIL change the landscape of rosters each year. The days of most guys being at one school the whole time is an anomaly.

So many wasted possessions.
-Harris trying to be a scorer
-Ty has to lose the over the head reverse lay up.
-Melendez no confidence at all
-Epps driving with no outlet available. Against major shot blockers.
-Dainja turnovers down low
-Hawkins not looking to score down low.
I think you just described basketball. Wanna point out all the good things that made it so close?

If you want to point to anything going wrong / costing us the game, it was really just IU being tougher than us on the glass in the 2nd half and making plays to get 50/50 balls. They were bound to start burying some threes, and we gave them way too many opportunities. Thought we did well on TJD, thought we forced JHS into some difficult twos on PnR, we just didn’t grab enough boards or have enough possessions in the 2nd half to keep the lead. Props to IU, they just out-battled us down the stretch, and it’s not surprising we’re losing games like these (that we won last year with 5th year Trent) when we’ve got 2 freshmen and 2 sophomores in the lineup in the final minutes. We’re young, and that’s gonna happen. Heck of a fight overall by our guys though.

We lost on the road to a top 15 team without our best player. It's tough considering how long we led but nothing to hang out heads about.
I would feel better if we they had a 10 pt lead at the first tv timeout and we never got closer than that. Then the not having our best player excuse feels ok.

Quite a few spicy takes already in the thread. Some of y'all need to go for a walk or just take a break for the rest of the day.

Lost on the road without TSJ and fought down to the end. No gripes here, the guys played their tails off and came up short in a hostile environment. The refs were hot garbage like usual, but no excuses. Iron sharpens iron. Good experience for the team moving forward.

The Dance is going to be wide open this year. Still feel good about our squad moving into March and the Madness that will surely ensue :chief:

Coaches have to understand their personnel. When you need guys on the floor who can all hit shots you can’t have a young man in the game with a huge slump and confidence issues. You have to read the situation. Indiana left him wide open in the first half and he tossed up an air ball.
I give them credit for a revised defensive plan that frustrated TJD and kept us in the game but the details still matter. Disappointed.

Shooting lost us another game.
Looking at the box score, it's surprising we were in control most of the way. Indiana outshot us 44 to 39 percent, and 45 to 30 on threes. They out-rebounded and out-assisted us too. The only thing we did better was a few less turnovers and a few more free throws. We simply couldn't make a shot when we needed one.
