Same culture, same behavior - just follow along with what everyone else is doing, everybody does it. Just two other behaviors that part of the culture.I don’t understand your point about energy drinks & Casey’s , and the connection to online sports betting and gaming
How many will even know it's part of Hy-Vee? LOL..Is too early or mean to joke about Caitlyn Clark's Hy-Chi addiction.
(but seriously get that bag)
Hy-Vee makes Chinese food and brands it HyChi?How many will even know it's part of Hy-Vee? LOL..
I had no idea how prescient I was...I've come away from this with: a) college players have a caffeine and gambling addiction, and b) somehow Casey's and their rewards program is causing it?
Now I am getting worried about of our house not being in order.
Now we know where most of his NIL money went.
And now we have established a pattern...next up is an established culture of betting in Iowa athletics.
Now we know where most of his NIL money went.
Not old enough for one thingis it illegal for a 20 yr old college BB player to bet?
I'm guessing in the NCAA by laws somewhere it bans athletes from sports betting. *I'm not a lawyer but it's a message board so what the hell*Not old enough for one thing
Thankfully Josh has come out frequently and mentioned gambling as a very serious collegiate issue. I think I’ve heard two different Sat Sports Talks with Lauren and Steve Kelly where they interview Josh about this subject; each interview a few months apart. My summation of it, DIA is very closely monitoring this with our athletes. Now I am getting worried about of our house not being in order.
Absolutely, but that's not a criminal law issue.I'm guessing in the NCAA by laws somewhere it bans athletes from sports betting. *I'm not a lawyer but it's a message board so what the hell*
I wonder how they figured out he used a fake name. Does draftkings or other online apps require personal information so the IRS can collect taxes?
Now we know where most of his NIL money went.
Denver Broncos defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike was charged with tampering with records. Prosecutors allege he used someone else's name to place roughly 800 sports bets on FanDuel totaling over $21,000, including two Iowa State football games in the 2021 season in which Uwazurike participated. So I haven't followed college kids gambling but is it illegal for a 20 yr old college BB player to bet? I get the issue with betting on your own games but seriously why can't they bet on Draft kings?
Yep, the biggest potential problem is the insider stuff.Once the whole Tim Donaghy thing happened it was just a matter of time until players started getting caught up in it.
The new/easier ways to gamble just accelerated the end result.
And I'd also point out how connected these kids are where they may have friends/former teammates on different teams (in different conferences even) where inside information can be shared for a "finders fee".
Going down this rabbit hole can be...immense.
Idiots out wagering aroundIdiots out betting around.....................
I’m not against NIL
