1. I really hope last night was the "bottom". Unfortunately, there are a few opportunities to sink lower, i.e - A loss to minny, a substantial loss to NW, a similar beat-down at Maryland and a loss at Penn State could potentially be worse than last night.,
Wait until we play Iowa.
Losing to a top 25 team would not be rock bottom for Illinois. Losing to Minny or Rutgers would definitely be it though.

As would losing to Nebraska at home...

MSU' s rock bottom in the making....Are you watching the game on the big ten network right now?
The point is that Powell is Drew's top assistant, and his presence is another positive factor when considering Drew.
The 34 pt. loss was the worst negative point spread (only 11.5 dog) in UI history, so yes probably rock bottom.
Nebraska wins at MSU...sparties are rock bottom too..MSU' s rock bottom in the making....
Today was the first day I logged on thinking I might see a headline saying Groce fired. I honestly think it is only a matter of time now.

I do not believe this is true. On Jan. 26, 2002, #9 Illinois lost to Indiana in Bloomington 88-57 (31pts). Given that we were ranked #9, the spread must have been a lot less, either we were either the favorites or an underdog by a very slim margin or push. So it can't be the worst negative point spread against the line.

I for one am very pumped to see what a line up of Lucas, Nunn, Hill, Black, and Finke can do. We haven't had balanced scoring options like that across the board in a long time.
Fine, since nobody else seems to want to point this out, despite it being a consistent theme in this thread...
Where's the defense in that lineup?
PG: Freshman
SG: Kendrick Nunn, who has stopped caring about defense since freshman year
SF: Malcolm Hill, who would be the best defender in that lineup
PF: Foul Machine
C: 3 career blocks

I know TA had his flaws BEFORE the injuries came, but man this team needs his leadership on the court. Only so much you can do on the bench and talking during a timeout. The leadership he brings would go a LONG way right now.And that's even assuming TJL's scoring translates to the Big Ten. Even with Tracy on the perimeter there is no guarantee that he's the same defensive bulldog that he was his first 3 years with the injuries and time off. We're going to have to average 90 a game to have a winning record.
