Kansas 34, Illinois 23 Postgame

Nice fight to keep it from extreme embarrassment levels... but Illinois was outcoached from top to bottom except special teams?? Unless the O-line shows up, Altmyer won't be able to do what he can do, and he can do a lot. I don't believe either interception is on the QB. The coaches just could not find any weaknesses in which our players could exploit on the defensive end. Newton made some plays, but Randolph seemed to be invisible. I don't want to hear anymore about "the lawfirm"

Many questions for Bret after these first two games. But will anyone in the media ask them?
1. Why has the team seemed so unprepared for each game?
2. Why is the offense so vanilla until we are down two scores?
3. What is wrong with our offensive line? Do we not have more depth who are ready? Can we not bring some new guys in?
4. What is wrong with our defense? I know we lost some guys but we can't seem to get any pressure on the opposing qb, cover the middle of the field, or tackle. Why can we not set an edge ever?
5. Where is the discipline? Our guys are committing stupid penalties and chirping when they were down 3 scores. Inexcusable.

Unfortunately, if things don't dramatically improve 6 wins will be tough to find.

Looks like we have our QB which is huge, but disappointed in our O line and our backs. Still like our receivers though not great today.
OTOH, our D is so bad that I’ve already seen an enough to be convinced we need a new DC -and that won’t happen until after this year at best.
Really hope the coach doesn’t sugar coat this second consecutive flop. A lot needs to change.
Start making those changes.

BB hit the nail on the head when he said at the halftime interview , " embarrassing effort , gonna see who wants to play football "

Our right tackle position is a void as deep as the Grand Canyon.....We had to use a RB blocker for Luke to have time to even check who was open....
DC needs to pick up the pace and speed of our defense.....he might be over his head as far as being the decisionmaker on D.....

Luke A. is one tough son-of-a-gun to remain in the game after that targeting tackle......

I counted at least 5 holds on the ku O-line that were never called......

kansas has some playmakers but they are not as good as we made them look tonight....
That 41 second TD drive by them just killed our momentum....It sure killed mine......

2 confirmed targeting calls on kansas ....dirty team or just football plays ??
Do we have any linebackers that can fill the lanes to stop these long runs by the opponents ??

A lot of serious questions remain for this years Illini........Can we solve them and keep an above .500 record for the season ??

next week could be very very ugly ......it really really could be .....................

Well, I'll start since you're here. Is there anyone we can plug in at Right Tackle or are we pretty much screwed as it seems that both Crisler and Gesky are guards who just don't translate to tackle. I'm guessing there's a good reason why we haven't gone in that direction already, but I shudder to hear it's because we just don't have anyone who can play it right now...

Isaiah Adams seems like the obvious choice.

Why isn't Jordyn Slaughter in there?

Pearl Slaughter Kreutz Crisler Adams

Crisler isn’t a tackle … He can’t do it …

Gesky isn’t good enough at RG …

I made a couple posts last week about it …

Indy’s solution: Give Henderson/Whitenack the RT reps … Move Crisler back to RG …

Let's face it, this game was basically over by halftime. Very disappointing performance by the defense. We gave up a lot of yards and a lot of big plays. At least we showed some fight and grit in the second half. Certainly not the same defense from last year. However, I did not expect this much of a drop off from last year.

What about moving Adams to tackle? We know coaches don't want to do it, but I have a hard time believing a freshmen and a redshirt are going to magically solve the problem.
