So who is happier to hear this news, the whiner Fran or the whiner Hunter? Both have to be RELIEVED they will never have to see Kofi in Illini uniform again.

Fran did get one win over Kofi, but then lost five straight including season-ending defeats in 2020 and 2022 that were both completely winnable games for Iowa that Illinois out-fought them for in large part because of Kofi, plus a BTT semifinal loss in 2021

And even better, poor Hunter NEVER beat Kofi, really never came close.

Kofi, I know you accomplished much more than this in your awesome Illini career, but I thank you for kicking the crap out of Iowa and Michigan.
No one happier than Greg Gard in Madison after what Kofi did to his front court...

I dont know what we are. I'm in wait and see mode. We really don't know what we have in Dain or even how many additions or even subtractions there may be to our roster still. We are definitely going to miss the big fella. Let's add a quality mobile big and some more shooters.
I think we’ll still be pretty good. We’ll play faster and move the ball more.

A big thank you to King Kofi! Seeing him play in O&B was a real delight and he saw our return to prominence through. I have no doubt that BU can take it from here on to the top as he reshapes this team once again. I am excited for the rest of the dominoes to tumble and see who this team will be in the fall. It is a wild ride but so much better than it was there for a while.

It's good to be back!

Good point

And I forgot that I'm sure Indiana is glad to see him gone as well. He destroyed them the last two years on their sacred home court in Bloomington.

I guess most of the Big Ten is throwing a party today, which if all the victories and banners and postgame lockerroom celebrations from the past three years weren't obvious enough, the reaction of our rivals is a reminder for a huge thank you again to Kofi for your huge part in bringing Illini basketball back

A HUGE, HUGE, HUGE thank you to Kofi for playing a big part in resuscitating Illinois basketball and bringing us back to respectability on the national level. He will be sorely missed but long remembered in Illini hearts.

That being said, I truly believe it is the wrong move on his part. His game is good, but with the talent we have coming in and the scoring balance that talent and the removal of Damonte "Won't shoot" Williams from the lineup brings, Kofi's game would have been freed up next year and he would have had a chance to shine brightly going into the 2023 NBA Draft. I believe that he was severely hampered by all the hacking and triple teaming this year, and the offensive threats on next year's team would have helped alleviate that. He would have had the opportunity to improve and show off more ability and, if next year's team can figure it out and gel, show his ability on the national stage further into March. The 2023 NBA Draft results would, I believe, have turned out better for him than this year's draft will.

But that is all water under the bridge over Boneyard Creek now. Best of luck to Kofi going forward and thanks for the memories you left us with! :illinois:🧡💙🧡💙

I wish him well but I feel like he made a mistake

The Chicago Bulls have the 18th pick in the draft. I am hoping that the Bulls want
a big body, they clearly need one, and would like to connect Kofi and Ayo on the team.
I am guessing they have a chance for Kofi at the 18th. The NBA likes to have a center
with some shooting touch, so he might fall to that pick.

The King is gone. Long live the King.

Thanks to Kofi for helping to restore Illinois to our place on the national stage. All the best to him as his career progresses.

Thanx for the memories, King Kofi! At least there should be some NIL money available to attract good options. This next team might be more a BU type team than before. I'm sure he will have them clicking by the time B1G season rolls around. Should be a fun team to watch.

Love the guy, but there is zero chance Kofi gets drafted #18. Second round if at all. Hope someone takes a gamble that his game can translate.

Paging Mr. Dainja....Mr. Dain Dainja, 6'9" 265lbs transfer Center/Power Forward to Fighting Illini Basketball 2022-2023 season. Mr. Dainja, your table is ready, enjoy the Big-10. The Cockburn party has canceled their reservation.

Let’s all share our favorite Kofi plays or memories:

One of my favorite dunks was during our thrashing of Minnesota at the Barn last year. It was a dunk fest for everyone, but Kofi caught a fast break ball down the lane and half cocked it back for a one handed dunk. Man I never remember being more excited!!

(Collective sigh of relief from Big Ten refs at not ever having to officiate with Kofi in the court again)

I never zeroed in on the bench reaction to this before…
That’s one drastic swing in the collective mood. Lol

(Zima’s reaction in particular is amusing.)
Jubilation to WTH in nano-seconds.
Except for BBV who has an obstructed view and doesn’t know what or more accurately, who went down…so he’s still shadow boxing when it happens.

Poor Guy…Still looks painful.
