Not saying you are, but I just can’t see making Kofi the bad guy regardless of what happens. He suddenly has an ocean of opportunity available to him and he should do whatever is best for him and his family.
I certainly don't disagree with you. I'm sad because the college basketball we knew... is gone.

But then the games turn on, and we're happy again. A lot of these threads are showing the sausage making process. But we don't have to glue into them as much as we do. If we watch the games from November-April, they really are a lot of fun. Then tune out when the behind the scenes stuff becomes too much.

BBIQ: “This is his career, why shouldn't it be about money?”

Basketball was once throwing a used soccer ball into a simple peach basket that didn’t even have hole in the bottom of it.

Now it’s a game of throwing armloads of cash into big money baskets (without a hole in them) of players, coaches, assistant coaches, television networks, “unorthodox” recruiters, corporate sponsors, vendors, sports media people, and other destinations. Lots of people making lots of money.

Now whether this is a good or bad thing depends on your point of view. In any case, there is a great deal of good and a great deal of bad in it.

Getting lost, however, is the simple joy of taking a round ball and bouncing it a few times and making it sing on the court and then throwing it into a hoop and hearing the sweet sound of twine dancing its happy tune. Accountants and Handlers and Hangers-On are never fun about anything.

The Favored Names in college ball will remain the favored names. Everyone else will be playing catch-up, as always. But one of these days – somehow and some way – the big trophy will be brought to the Prairie State by the courageous players who avoided all competing temptations and chose to proudly wear Illini Orange while doing it.

Will (this guy) go? Will (this guy) stay? It’s never about those who choose to go away. It’s all about those who choose to stay. And because they want to be here and not because of the money.

I would take Kofi back in a heartbeat and I do hope he comes. But not sure it would be so great for him to come back with the understanding that BU adjust everything to further showcase Kofi’s skills.

Don’t get me wrong I am all for getting Kofi to the nba but it can mess with team chemistry and ultimately a team may not meet its potential if Underwood had to coach to fulfill promises or keep one player happy vs. winning games. Felt that to a lesser existent with Miller this year.

There is no way adding Kofi to this team is bad no matter what promises or adjustments are made for him

There is nothing at all in Kofi's history on our team that indicates he is anything other than a team player and all-around wonderful teammate. I don't know why you'd think otherwise given the available evidence. Under no circumstances would Kofi returning be anything other than positive for this team, full stop.

When did this become an honorable sentiment? There should always be factors besides money. Basketball player or regular career.
Money is in most people's top 3 reasons for being at a job. I get what you're saying, but kids in their 20's want the cash and they want it now. They figure the rest out as they go.

Let's also remember that Kofi's mom has been living apart from her family in NYC for years in order to make $ and provide for her family back in Jamaica.

Perspective, people.

Not arguing against the decision if that's the one he makes. Just saying he shouldn't expect cheers and applause from everyone if a decision is solely based on money. Those types of people are routinely looked at as d-bags by others in real life. But then again I don't think he's actually expecting that. I think people on this board are expecting that on his behalf for some reason.

Players don't enter the portal and return to their original team. I don't think I've seen it yet. Don't get your hopes up
There have been a few this year due to the circumstances. But generally yes, they are usually gone every time.

100%. So much of what I loved about college basketball is gone now. The idea of players staying at schools, fans getting attached to players and the players getting attached to communities, schools, fans...all gone now.

4 players from Indiana this year alone…do you really need me to find the entire list for you or can you simply acknowledge that now you have seen it happen?
I think we can all agree it does happen, but is rare.

As opposed to everyone here that works out of the goodness of their heart.
Of course not, but many, including me, have left significantly higher paying jobs or turned down others due to prioritizing things other than the highest bidder.

I strongly suspect I’m not alone on this board on this. I’m not even alone in my household.
