Of course not, but many, including me, have left significantly higher paying jobs or turned down others due to prioritizing things other than the highest bidder.

I strongly suspect I’m not alone on this board on this. I’m not even alone in my household.
Did you have an extremely unique skill set where you had a finite amount of time to maximize profits off of it and an extended family that lives in the developing world?

Everyone has different circumstances.

I think the point is still fair. People consider a variety of things when selecting a job. Or, ya know, what to do with life in general. You’d make more money working 40 hours a week at McDonalds as an 18 year old than you would paying for a college education, even if you work a side job, but peopel still choose that every day. Please don’t act like Kofi is too short sighted to look beyond the number of 0s on a check.

I never said he was too short-sighted. Like anywhere. My first statement was simply--all people get paid for work--which is true. My second was that he has a finite amount of time to make money off his extremely unique skill, which is also inarguable true.

That's not to say I think he should, or will, make his decision off of today's payday. Far from it. I think in the long run he'll make a heck of a lot more if he stays here for a year (especially if we're as successful as we all believe we will be). And I have absolutely no idea, much like everyone else, how he'll make his decision.

4 players from Indiana this year alone…do you really need me to find the entire list for you or can you simply acknowledge that now you have seen it happen?

Again, very rare but thank you for the minimal examples.. We will see. We can all agree that we hope Kofi is one of the very few exceptions.

But then the games turn on, and we're happy again. A lot of these threads are showing the sausage making process. But we don't have to glue into them as much as we do. If we watch the games from November-April, they really are a lot of fun. Then tune out when the behind the scenes stuff becomes too much.
Yes, in many ways we are making things worse for ourselves by paying so much attention. I just saw the news that Garcia signed with NC go across the bottom of the screen while watching ESPN. Probably 90% or more of college basketball fans have no idea who Garcia is or that he was seemingly set to go to Illinois before choosing NC. Yet among some people on here it is another piece of evidence that BU isn’t getting the job done.

I'm sure it's been said before, but I'll say it again for the folks in the back:

If you think BU isn't getting the job done, you're #delusional.

I'll leave you with a "gif"t

calm down chill out GIF

Good catch.
Though it only furthers my point that the OP was made without actually looking at the facts, but used a superlative to rationalize an emotional feeling of dread. You are correct. McClung withdrew from the portal, but then remained in the draft. My bad on that one, even if he did technically withdraw from the portal, it is not a very good example. Thank you for calling me out - always appreciate someone fact checking me as it makes me a little bit more in tune.
Isn't Mac McClung staying in the draft?

After getting upset over the "loss of Garcia", I realized that I had really no recollection of seeing him play. I would not have heard of him, or had reason to think about him, without following the journey on this board. I felt better after.

When did this become an honorable sentiment? There should always be factors besides money. Basketball player or regular career.
no one said its the ponly factor but come on. You get multiple job offers you're taking the one with the most money especially if the difference is significance almost every time. There is nothing dishonorable about getting paid what you think you are worth.

Not just the most money in the short term, but I have to think Kofi (and those guiding him) has the foresight to pick a school/situation based on what he thinks gives him the best chance for growth for a sustainable professional career. Nothing points to Kofi just going to the highest NIL bidder, his mindsight is almost assuredly on the long term in which growing his game is the #1 priority. The money he has a chance to make in the NBA is exponentially larger than the difference in NIL money between schools.

To be fair to Tribute, your OP stated it doesn’t happen. They gave you examples of when it did happen and you chided them. Just eat your crow and cross your fingers that Kofi is another example.

You are alil late to the party. I thanked him for the examples and pretty much said the same thing about hoping Kofi is one of the few examples. Thanks for your input tho.

I would agree it’s rare. I would argue it’s also rare to see a consensus all American transfer away from his school. So him leaving would be the first time that’s happened so far as I can recall. I may be missing someone though

Agreed. First time an All-American has entered the portal. That alone is concerning to me...at this point I just wish that "quick" decision he was promising happens soon so we can move forward either way.
