Talked to a couple of different people about this. The likeliest place for him to come back to is Illinois, he is more using the transfer portal as leverage from what I have been told. There is other factors at play about if he could even play in college this coming season. Everyone stop freaking out, if he comes back to college I would be surprised if he doesn't play at Illinois next season.
Well he could've released a statement by now saying it doesn't mean he's leaving Illinois, etc. but he doesn't seem interested in damage control which tells me he's not coming back.

I get thet there's an element of "the new normal" to this, but it seems like we have been on the losing side of the new normal over and over. If we'd won a few of these (for example if we'd landed Tre Mitchell) I'd feel better about it. When this offseason started a lot of insiders were talking grand visions of Kofi coming back, us adding Tre Mitchell, cleaning up in the transfer market etc. If I'd told you then that we'd lose all 3 ACs, fail to have a full staff by July 1, lose AM to a transfer, fail to land Mitchell, and Kofi would enter the portal, who would have been satisfied with that result?

Leverage for what? Doesn't make any sense unless he actually wants to leave.

I’m guessing this is a “subtle” hint to start liking everything on every social media outlet for our players, to maximize their earnings potential through these NIL deals. The more likes and wherever else all those Facebook algorithms are looking for when measuring influence are going to be key to getting better deals for our players. So if anything we should be visiting the schools IG, Facebook, etc and getting busy interacting with those (and the players…?) accounts. That just might be the ticket. If there ever was a more rabid fan base than what we have here I have yet to see it.

Why are you guys worried about people hurting his feelings? It was his decision to make, only person to blame is himself.
Because there’s a spectrum of behavior ranging from acceptable commentary to unacceptable BS. It’s the latter we’re talking about here. Hope he comes back. My favorite player since Dee.

Pass.

Have the computer science department write an algorithm and call it a day. Converting fandom into social media metrics is for the birds.

I’d like to get back to giffing, please. That’s much more relaxing.

It is always about $$$. Always!!

If Kofi comes back to college basketball, he will go with the school that will best prepare him for the NBA . Heck, no one can really argue with that. He did not grow up an Illini fan, and does not the bond to Illinois like we would hope. A true run and gun team could help his NBA prospects, the Illini used him in an old school center to win.

If there is smoke, there is fire. I am now really starting to wonder what happened with the Adam Miller transfer.

Companies like Microsoft and Facebook are already onto others’ algorithms and bots and other artificial ways to inflate influence. Won’t work. Has to be the real deal. Personally I’m not going to waste too much time on it but I’ll ‘like’ Illini stuff more now if it comes across my feed. I have nothing to lose by it.

Playing with a future NBA PG who is lethal in the pick and roll is exactly what Illinois can give him.

There are a lot of dumb comments on this board, which really scares me about what Twitter could look like. Just because he made a decision to enter the portal, doesn’t mean he deserves the hate on social media.

Also, I keep seeing talk on here about competing with Kentucky for NIL reasons. I read an article not to long ago about how that legislation didn’t pass in Kentucky. There could be an update to this that I haven’t read about, so please let me know if things have changed.

Legislation doesn't matter anymore now that the NCAA is allowing it.

I don't have twitter, what are some of the things being said to him? Also, I hate how little social media does to take down troll or stolen accounts.
