Does Cal even "have an offense" in this sense or does he just put 5 superstars on the floor and have them play basketball in a way that fits their mix of skills from year to year? Honestly, the latter approach would make the most sense given his recruiting strategies.
Pick and roll lobs with a bunch handlers and a giant screener seems like a pretty solid offense.

BU has earned, at a minimum, the benefit of the doubt given how he's resurrected our program from the grave. But how we recover from or otherwise power through this trying time where all three ACs leave at once and potentially our two best players to boot will be telling. If we come out of this without any major downturn, he'll be practically deified by some. If we fall on our face, there will be a lot of "I told you so" people coming out of the woodwork.
This post says it all. Now we sits and we waits.

I think Kofi selling all of his Illini gear and had undoubtedly already received the info from some NBA scouts, it is a telltale sign. I hope he comes back, we would be a top 5, but I'd say it's 50/50 at best.

Kofi's comment from his interview with ESPN:

"Kentucky? It's a serious option. Antigua is my guy. I'm going to consider them, but there [are] a lot of schools."

Might as well just put the Kentucky uniform on now and be done with it. It's over.

My question is if Kofi goes to UK does Oscar really want to be his backup or will he be a power forward next to Kofi?
Oscar T. left because a 6-8 PF was encroaching on his spot in the middle. What happens when you plant a 7 footer. The game isn't set up to have two post up bigs.

The Kentucky players are not going to feed Kofi like Illinois players. I wouldn't be surprised to see decrease ppg. The NBA would not like that trend.

Sure wish we had a Kentucky game scheduled this upcoming season.

Does Kofi really need an offense that tosses him the ball every time down the court? He'll still miss free throws and have no shot outside of 6 feet.
Or, does Kofi need to spend the next year in a system that will help him develop into an NBA draft choice a year from now?

Still think his biggest weakness is lack of lateral quickness/ability to guard PnR/ability to switch on the perimeter.

Loyola put Kofi on an island and exposed his inexperience in those areas, and guessing his shuttle/lateral quickness measurables confirmed that to scouts. While some of that is limited by physical ability, I do think you can learn and improve on guarding PnR/perimeter with practice. Think the only way to learn is with experience/PT and we have more of that to offer.

Not sure the NBA really cares if Kofi can shoot 3s or not. If he can’t figure out how to guard PnR he is unplayable in the NBA and won’t get drafted.

If he enrolls someplace other than Illinois or Kentucky you just have to let it go and say thanks for the memories. But if he does enroll at Kentucky then I think the biggest tampering lawsuit in the history of the NCAA should be filed.

Any thoughts on Kofi preferring either the B1G or the SEC? Style of play, opponents, etc?
He likes Orlando Antigua. And Cal will probably show him the many stars who’ve passed through Lexington en route to NBA success. This ain’t hard, folks.

I don't care if Kofi stays or goes. I'll tip my cap and wish him well either way

He committed to the Illini right after an ugly upset loss, because he knew he could make a difference for the Illini and show his ability.
He also busted his !!! to get in shape and learn the game while at Illinois.
He also helped our Illini become relevant again in the B10 & NCAA.

If Kofi sees an opportunity to grow himself, I think he has good instincts and I wish him well. If he looks around and stays, then he'll come back and make us proud. The Illini will be OK either way.

Is this really about Kofi or was this a past relationship? 😂

Peoria Pipeline: “...if it’s Kentucky, it sounds like the definition of tampering.”

There was some media (and fan) grumbling and weeping during the last ‘Madness’ when the Legacy Elitist programs almost all wiped out before the Final Four. Like that was some kind of affront against nature or something. So, it appears that all must be done to make sure that such circumstances won’t happen again any time soon.

Players should be paid. But it’s hard for anyone not to see that the Legacy Elitist programs will benefit most from this in having even greater pull with the top young talented names with their much greater media footprint than anyone else ever gets.

I try to stay optimistic as a rule, but Kofi is gone IMHO unless I hear otherwise from him. Kudos to Kofi for being honest and frank with that ESPN reporter.

His phone has to be blowing up right now. There is not a team in the country that wouldn't take him, and some of these coaches will be making wild promises about how he'll be used on offense or how they'll improve his draft stock that they won't end up keeping... hey Kofi, we'll even let you bring up the ball sometimes on offense!

If his two-year relationship with Underwood, Alexander, Whitman, and all his returning teammates is not enough to keep him from taking visits to other schools... well, I just think he's Kentucky-bound, or someone else is gonna dazzle him with promises of playing on the perimeter or crazy NIL money.

Garcia commitment would soften the blow a bit. If Kofi comes back to ILLINOIS, sign me up for ten t-shirts.

Everyone show class regardless what happens. We got two years of Kofi nobody in their right mind expected.

5 years ago he is probably a first rounder, 10 years ago he is probably a top 5 pick. The NBA changed, Kofi is in a tough spot. He may only have 10-12 years of pro ball left. He needs to maxed out his options. Hope he returns, he is a class act. But Illini nation thank him regardless what he does.

I'm buying Kofi t-shirts to the limit if he returns to Illinois.
