I hadn't heard that rule. Wow, that would be a terrible way to determine who should be paying their own way. There is WAY too big a discrepancy between the incomes of the parents. It should likely be based on the tuition costs, making $50k more than RB&T? Or, a flat number, $150k+?
I might have read it wrong. I remember the number being 41-42k I think.
It would mess with Pell Grant money, which is federal aid based on family need. I'm sure some schools include Pell Grants for those student athletes who qualify to free up money elsewhere. The rest of the scholarship money should just come from the DIA and wouldn't be impacted by NIL earnings.
I would bet they're more often used for non-revenue athletes. Also, more useful at DIII schools where they can't give athletic scholarships. I doubt this would ever impact a P5 school tbh
For him to sell his gear he had to basically sign that he was done with the institution. Which servers his scholarship and changes his visa status. So the university has to find a way to undo all of this and deal with the fact he made thousands of dollars before NIL was a thing kind of waiver.

Well that that's good if he does, doesn't change the other problem. Illinois compliance plays no games, from what I understand.

Wasn't Ayo one of the dudes on Adam's Instagram Live as he was deciding where to transfer? Things seemed fine with them. I think it's more likely that Ayo looks at this as a business decision and isn't shading anyone.

I would say that if you're willing to hop on IG Live with someone, you probably don't hate them, but I get what you're saying re: Ayo and Kofi. It was the "slight @ Kofi" in your initial post that had me thinking shade.
