Looking ahead to 2024

I've now exited the Bar Car on the CoHawk train and planted myself firmly in the Bar Car of the Fire Lunney Jr. train.

I will sit here and drink and occasionally move to the Observation Car to yell at the clouds...until I get the promised running centric offense we all thought was coming with Bret and his O line heavy approach.

I get that the Fire Henry train will probably be more popular and crowded, but I hate crowds, and I love old school smashy face football.
I want everyone to know what's coming, and then shake their heads after Feagin plows them over, or Love jukes them out of their jockeys.

I'm over this MAC offense and I don't think Luke is suited for Lunney's style. But that's just my eyeballs...YMMV.

I don't think we will ever consistently compete for the 4 and 5 star QB's and WR's that OSU, scUM, and the new PACB1G teams will continue to get. We are going to need to do it different, just like Wisky did for a decade.

And yeah also defense and stuff. :illinois: 🧡💙
Just tied for 4th in the conference in yards per game and were 5th in ppg. Totally agree get that bum out of here.

Yep. And for those who’ve forgotten this miserable period, here’s a brief video history:

Don't worry. At least we have the basketball team.

Um. Not so much, it turned out.

Thank you. I'd never seen that as I wasn't active on the Board back then. That made me laugh out loud, rocketing to the top of my favorite Downfall parodies.

That lasagna looks a lot like pizza.

Lol...well, I didn't call him a bum and my post didn't make light of what has been accomplished...and it's silly to build that strawman from my post.

I just don't see it as a path to 8 wins per season and a consistent chance to win the West.

I'll be happy to eat crow if it somehow is.

Re: injuries. Did we have an inordinate number this year? If so, can we pinpoint a cause? Is there some action that we can take to change that going forward? I remember Lovie not allowing tackling in practice (and sometimes in games).

I totally agree we are in no position to win the big ten west next year...just like everyone else.

I get it, I'm not trying to bash him. Having gunslingers like Tommy and JP really worked in his scheme. As well as a beast RB in Brown last year.

Iowa and Wisc ( and prob Ore. and Neb eventually) are just going to beat that scheme 8 out of 10 times IMHO.

What BB did at Wisky works. Consistently. Obviously it's talent dependent too, but much less so on the 4 and 5 star skill players that we are competing with football powerhouses for. I just expected that to be his path, our path, to competing every year, rather than 1 or 2 years out of 5.

You have good inside connections. Why did not he see the field more? All reports coming out of camp was he was physically ready. Our WR position was stacked this year with IW Washington Bryant but not sure why he wasn’t targeted more when we spread the field
Gotta sure up his hands to see the field. He will be fine. Hard to find the field when Pat, IW and Casey are playing 90% of the snaps
