I would call the ticket office and tell them the type of seats you want. Since I like sitting up high where I can easily see the entire field, I sit in the middle sections of the east balcony. The seats are just $150 each and the view is great. Here is a link to the Memorial Stadium seating charts on the forum:

I live in NYC and can't go to games, but may buy season tix and give them away simply to support program now.

Did anyone see the news gazette this morning? I can't link it but they are negative on this whole thing.

What JFW is doing fliesdirectly in the face of what old Loren Tate has been saying for as long as I have been alive. " Illinois can't compete."

Loren, you're wrong. Illinois can compete, we've just never had an AD with the balls to do so. Now we do. :shield:

Good lord! Did you fall in a well?
No spring cleaning, I have many trees. Picked up limbs ran a chainsaw, burned brush all day. And unfortunately as soon as I sat 5 minutes in the recliner I was fast asleep. And today I can't move! Its hell being an aging Illini fan:(

Illinois the cover if both major news papers? That some good press and you see just see the excitement. I'm also going to look at season tickets now. First time I've done so in a long time.

Any ideas on how much we will be paying? Are we finally in the top 1/3 of B1G compensation? What about the rest of the staff, are the powers that be going to allow JFW to pull out all the stops?

My guess is somewhere around 3 or 4 mil. Given his salary at TB, and the fact that hiring him means Lovie won't get any of his 10mil "no job clause," we probably have to give him a pretty penny.

So yeah, University of Illinois is about to have one of the highest paid football coaches in the country.

Odds of hearing something today?

Would be a great way to end the weekend?start the week.

Also, is it realistic for us to get Lovie AND Frazier (as DC)?

I've seen this mentioned a few times, but are we sure this is an "all or nothing" clause in his buyout? Most times these are structured such that, if the person lands another job, the amount from the new job is subtracted from what the former team owes.

If recall correctly from his time with the Bears. Smith is a huge history buff. He would take the rookies to the Bears museum or hall of fame every year. I think he will embrace the history of Illinois and use it in recruiting. I don't know how much kids these days care about that stuff but I like it.

The only articles online are Asmussen and Tate. I didn't feel negative. They were just taking the typically cautious approach we know all to well as Illini fans. At this point, the only thing for sure is that we fired our coach in March. Lovie smith being hired would be awesome, but it's not official yet.

Love is a real good man . Highly respected by coaches and his players . Full of integrity . A devoted Christian and family man . Perfect fit for UI at this time .

A bases loaded , two out home run , down by 3 in the eighth inning hire.

Now, he just needs to get it done on the field and on the recruiting trail . My opinion is he'll do fine .

In addition to all the good points made, we're not just going big with a guy that has baggage as some programs sometimes have done but we're going big with a guy who has a sterling reputation, professionalism, dignity, class etc. wow.

Plenty of people would have been happy with Frazier as the head coach. I dont know much about him but I'm sure he would be a great DC. And then if Lovie gets the itch to return to the NFL after several years of HUGE success, we have our coach in waiting. Table is set!!

After what's transpired today, I'm now convinced that the apocalypse is near. Miracles like this just do not happen this quickly to Illini football teams. Something sinister must be brewing. 404 error! Does not compute! I hope I wake up tomorrow and this is all still real.

Update: Still doesn't feel real.

If true, I'm beside myself with disbelief. What a decisive move by JW. Made his back channel overtures, found out he had his guy, and then swiftly acted to make it happen. Wow. Just wow. This can't be Illinois we're talking about.

Diversity isn't the issue here to me. We went out and hit a home run with a Harbaugh like hire. Lovie isn't as wacky as JH to be sure but brings us instant cred in every recruits living room. Pat Fitzgerald hasn't coached in a Super Bowl. So there.

One person that may be in play for OC is Jeff Tedford. Former coach at California. He was supposed to be Lovie's OC at Tampa originally, but he got very sick. Then last year he coached in the CFL I believe.

Didn't Tedford coach Aaron Rodgers and at least one other pretty good quarterback at Cal? If so his hiring should make Lunt and the receivers pretty happy.
