I think Cubit did an admiral job, though:
#1: it sounds like he's the one who came up with the 2 year contract idea, which would have completely killed the program.
#2: he also gave his son a bit of special treatment, which may be one of the reasons he got fired.
Both valid points:
#1: I am sure he was just trying to look out for his best interests, nothing that anyone else wouldn't try to do. I learned in my last job, the only one looking out for my best interest was me. The administration are the ones that created this entire mess and all they had to do was say "no, you accept the job on our terms or we will need to go our separate ways", but instead they agreed to a two year deal.
#2: This didn't particularly sit well with me either, and to be honest, it has me a little concerned if the Lovie rumors turn out to be truth. Not saying Lovie would do the same thing Bill did, but it could be an elephant in the room. I guess in the grand scheme of things, it was just a small price to pay if these rumors (the Lovie hire) are true and Lovie can get us closer to the promised land, I for one will forgive and forget.
