Wouldn’t trade that BTT championship as it was the crowning achievement of our season. But I’m curious what the opening NCAA weekend record is of teams that play Friday, Saturday, Sunday. It sure looked like the best two teams were OSU and us last weekend.
That BTT title game comprised the quality and intensity of an Elite 8/FF game IMO.

I feel really sad and depressed after this game. New fan and hence still adjusting to experiencing heartbreaks. Anyone knows how to mentally bounce back from this ?

Agree 100% If you run your offense through your center, he has to be able to "get the ball out to the open shooter." Of course, we only shot 28.6 from 3 today.

We seems really out of sync. today, on both ends of the floor.
A good portion of those were contested 3s - to Loyola's credit. They ran us off the line a lot. They seemed to have 6 guys on the court on D.

Open 3s may have given us a better % from 3 and helped to open up the inside. Also, Miller should have not left the game in the last 10 mins and JG should have also been in much more.

Kofi can and will improve in his ability to finish through contact. Several of his trips to the line should have been 3pt play opportunities. That said, kudos to him for hitting FTs under pressure.

I disagree with the idea we weren't trying to push the tempo. I saw us trying to do that, but Loyola countering with some excellent transition defense. Their players got back quickly and got in the way of our ballhandlers.

Ayo, Trent, and Curbelo all struggled with getting dribble penetration. Again, Loyola's defense did an amazing job of stifling our offensive flow. When you can't dribble through a defense, you have to utilize quick passes instead. We weren't able to consistently do that.

I think this outcome has increased the possibility of Trent, DMW, and Kofi coming back. Even though it's not the outcome any of us wanted, Ayo should still be gone.

Time heals. Think of it this way - there is no ability to enjoy the highs of the great wins without the risk of heartbreak. You have to be in the game and that means you will get both the agony and ecstacy. It hurts, but to be indifferent is worse.

Yeah, I take it back. There are definitely 28 teams better than Loyola in the tournament, and the refs did an outstanding job.

It's not an excuse. Just a shame that this matchup, and this team, weren't given more respect.

Wish I had a good answer for you. Unfortunately, only time will help.

Bill Raftery literally narrating the obvious scheme Loyola was running on offense and defense the entire second half, and not seeing any adjustment was painful to watch. Went down ten early; no run, no push, no adjustment. Just lay down and let the clock run out.

Like every other fan I’m pretty upset but am still as proud as ever of this team. I tip my hat to Loyola-Chicago.

We know Ayo has some facial damage; he said on ESPN radio he might need surgery. In the B1G tournament championship game against Ohio State I saw him take a pretty good shot to the chin. From my tv view in Maine I don’t know if that had a lingering effect but I think maybe it did. I don’t think he was quite himself.

I feel really bad for the players that will be moving on. I feel bad for Loyalty. I feel bad for myself.

Shocking that so many people are complaining about Kofi's 21/9 game and 80%FTs
Underwood could have done some things better, no doubt but this falls on Ayo and Trent's shoulders. Ayo picked the worst time to have a crap performance on both sides. His man was blowing by him for easy lay ups all game. Loyola's defense swarmed him all game and it got to him, physically and mentally.
No it doesn't fall on ayo and Trents shoulders....we have so many weapons we should be able to overcome any player "down" game. We were simply outcoached.

Pretty bad luck that we drew a team with so much tournament experience this early on. You could tell who had been there and who hadn't.

The part that sucks the most for the players is they really didn't get to enjoy this year like a normal year because they never had any fans at the games. Then when they get in the tourney where there are fans (at least some), and all eyes on them, they get smoked. Definitely a bittersweet season
