Maryland 76, Illinois 67 Postgame

I am still amazed how poorly we shot in the second half. Harmon looked like he hasn’t shot a 3 all year. Quincy would never miss that many bunnies. They didn’t look right in the second half. Beat Scum.

Reese has been a punk arse since day 1 in the B$G..................he really really has...................
100% agree Pru.
I told my son while we were at the game, to watch Reese( game had not yet started). I figured he or Hawkins one would have gotten an F1 or T at some point during the game due to his history of Reese being a d bag and CoHawk being one that would not tolerate it.

Not sure how you formulate this opinion based on listening to game on radio.Game also mattered to Domask,Goode, etc, radio broadcast mention CH terrible body language, pouting on end of bench, emotion gets the best of CH more times than not.Really a big CH fan, just not pleased with leadership, need more.
I’ve watched some of the plays on X, specifically his fouls. He’s demonstrative for sure, I don’t mean to sound like he’s not. I’m specifically referring to his effort. Once he picked his second foul and came out of the game, Maryland started coming back. We immediately missed his presence.

In the second half he seemed to be putting up a fight on defense but was getting overpowered by a true center. Others weren’t helping on the glass which meant he had to defend multiple shots per possession. The team aspect of the game was missing yesterday. Coleman couldn’t do it alone and he appeared frustrated by that.

Edit: I would like to go back and watch the game. I’ll sure there are things I missed.

He fell on the top of cohawk and no foul under the basket....they called a foul on Geronimo later in the sequence........

he needs payback big time in the road game rematch........he really really does.................

one thing that can backfire is our coach talking about booty ball and
inferring that were older and tougher than the teams were playing.
both with the other team and the ref's. this is not in reference to the
incident in the post game hand shake line, just in general to the other
teams and ref's.

frankly, i've never been a fan of the handshake line anyway. after playing
that hard for a game player/coaches are going to be pissed.

It was Dain, but yea. The ref was right there watching. Dain even stopped playing thinking a foul would be called and thats when Geronimo reached in and tried to take the ball. Then the ref calls a foul. smh. Unreal. I think Reese even had 2 fouls at the time.

Dain should have just went up and launched Reese into the cheap seats. Ref might have called something then. 😉

TA walked right past him, Reese could have been like 'oh well' but instead he threw a big hissy fit and had to be restrained by coaches
He was in the handshake line and ta clearly avoided shaking his hand. That's Bush league, especially for a coach. I don't care if Reese is a jackass (which he is). Set a better example... Especially when that jackass went into your home court and lit you up. Take your lumps and show good sportsmanship

Agree, it was bush league, but Reese was the one that made a huge scene about it. Right after he aggressively screamed obscenities at fans. They were both in the wrong, imo, and anyway it was a pretty mild dust up all things considered.

Is there a requirement for shaking hands? It's one thing to be competitive and battle on the court or field and shake hands out of mutual respect. Unfortunately there are those athletes out there that go beyond that, they don't deserve it. I don't shake hands with jack a##es either.

We should have won this game. But, Maryland was picked #3-4 in the B1G preseason. After a terrible 1-3 start, they have gone 10-3. They have gone from #118 Net to 99. If they continue to win games, this might become a Quad 2 loss, still bad, but not AS bad. Reese has always been a jerk, but he, Young, and Donta are pretty good players that will win them some games. Hopefully, we get payback at their house. Also, I would guess that the players were ok with TA's interaction w Reese.

Only read a couple of pages of post-game thread (my limit on losses) so if this point has been made my apologies.

I think this loss can be attributed to primarily one thing - a lack of focus resulting from all the involvement of the team in TSJs legal efforts this week. I think these guys were emotionally drained from the hope that he would be playing (unlikely as it was), and just couldn't get going as a result. His absence finally took its toll albeit indirectly on their performance.

I didn’t like her antics in the NC game, but I would have been really surprised and maybe just a bit disappointed if she didn’t repeat it at the ESPYs. Any “damage” the original gesture might have caused is over with. Lean into it. In for a penny in for a pound.

I think msu and maryland displayed how the rest of the league is going to play the Illini-- play thug-ball, get cohawk in foul trouble and put a big on rodgers,
and see if Damask can beat you by himself. We need more bulk, and need Ansbury to heal and step up.

I wish we would have used Dain's 5 fouls to make Reese score his points from the FT line. He is shooting 58% for the year - this game, he was 4-7, which is ... 57%.

We all need to become Maryland fans from here on out. A quad 3 loss is not good for our resume at all!
