Really hope Smith gets going soon. Hopefully his confidence doesn’t suffer-he’s such a great talent, we’re a different team if he plays to his potential.

If Illinois can summon that 2nd half effort for the rest of the season, this is a tournament team. Hopefully they can build on this.

I know we started bad. I know our kids made a lot of mistakes. But to me the dumbest thing was to was calling a timeout at the end of the second half. You use that only if can’t get the ball inbounds. If it was to sub. Once again that should of been figured out before you needed a timeout.

Don’t get me wrong. I love our coach. But IMO that was a mistake on his part.

PS. I am starting worry about Lucas. He just makes so many mistakes mentally all the time.
When things are on the line he does worse. It scares me but I have faith that will change with time.

I am just as upset as anyone...especially living here in MD surrounded by irritating MD fans, but we need to stop the "this is so Illinois" and "it's just like Illinois to..." We erased a 22 point deficit and lost on a questionable call. We are making serious progress in year one of BU. I HATE losing this game...tomorrow will truly suck at work...but we will have the last laugh, and sooner rather than later.

That’s a clear foul on Alstork, and they pretty much had to call it after missing one on him at the end of regulation. That being said, the goal tending reversal is unforgivable and the OOB play was just so unfortunate. Cannot happen.

Hard to blame Williams everyone went away from the ball and he had no one to throw it in to was going to get 5 second call. Should have just made sure he didn't get it to high with that little time left but someone has to come to the ball and get open embarrassing after taking a timeout to set it up

That it will.

IT DOES NOT MATTER. Once again the officiating decided a game. That was a clean block. He didnt bump him and change his motion. He had ALL BALL.

The officiating didn't decide this game...the block shot was missed, the goal tend non reviewable was missed, and probably half a dozen more on each side were missed....a 22 point deficit is not the ref doing...it is a team playing at half speeds doing, sorry.:chief:

Winning is about talent, effort and paying attention to details.

The little things killed us in consecutive close losses. Turnovers, missing free throws and a lack of execution late.

If they get the ball in, they win. If they box out, they win. If they make free throws, they win......

I'm not disheartened by this at all. The heart and effort in the second half was outstanding. Do that for 40 minutes now.

They'll be fine.

I think everyone should save this. I still feel like s*** right now but what incredible effort, especially defensively. Anyone who was ready to jump off the Alstork ship want back on?

Yeah that was a smart play by Williams. Better to do that than force a pass under our own basket. Just needed Kipper to at least get a hand on it.

That looked like all ball on the block.

It was all ball on the block - he did bump him with the body - but so did we on a few made shots - so for the most part they were letting body contact go..

Tough loss, but nice to see them fight back - Its a shame, we could have been 2-0 this weekend.

Cowan got away with ALOT of off hand pushes and holdbacks to get to the rim. If you're not going to allow the defender to put hands on, should go both ways - and he clearly fouled Tejon on the pressure outside very late in OT.

Mark definitely fouled on that last play, but the and 1 by Cowan earlier was complete garbage. But none of it matters if the guys execute and get the ball in

You got it. None of those things matter if we would have executed basic stuff.

The cream is starting to rise to the top regarding out team. DMW is going to be a player. Frazier is going to be a player. Jordan is a player right now!

Good things muxed in with some not so good things.

Totally expected.

0-2 start to conference play will probably bite us come March. NW is not that good and then you lose on home court. Those were 2 games we should have had.

This doesn't go just on Underwood but the assistants as well. If I saw it correctly they wanted AJ in and that's why they called the TO. Should have had him at the table to sub prior.

Ultimately, the guy who went 0-2 down the stretch from the line at NW and cost us and now went 1-2 down the stretch shouldn't have been in, period. AJ HAS to be on the floor in winning time. Underwood and Cos end of game lineups are puzzling to say the least.

We gave the officials multiple chances to "decide the game". They didn't do us any favors but we shot off our own foot so many times it's a little silly to start blaming the refs.

I wouldn't have as big a problem with the call on Alstork if they hadn't completely blown the call when he got massively hip-checked.

He should have thrown it to tejon in the corner he was open. He just didn't want to throw it to Him because he was going to miss the free throws.

Jordan was pulled off and on for most of OT it seems, Lucas should have never thrown the alley oop with 30 seconds. The inbounds after the timeout needs work on cuts and screens to get guys open. That play would have sealed the comeback win if we could have just gotten it in.

Tired of so called great efforts and excuses for not winning we had game won and didn't execute at the end to win it has been same thing for last five years didn't execute at end of Northwestern game either same old same old
