Michigan 19, Illinois 17 Postgame

I’m upset that we lost, but coming into this game as 17-pt underdogs and playing as well as we did, I can’t be mad. The refs sucked, but so did our play calling when it mattered most. I wanted the win to hopefully gain an edge in recruiting, but I don’t think we lost much credibility losing to #3 team on the road in last 10 seconds of game. Hopeful bball beats Virginia tomorrow. ILL.

Great effort, players were failed by the philosophy of the program. You are going to lose this game and every similar game in the future 100% of the time if that is the offensive philosophy w/3 min to go w/ the lead vs. #3 on the road. No chance to win, prehistoric football.
Go watch Wisky when BB was the coach the strategy works we are just a few years away from having the line

I’d love to know how many calls we send to the Big Ten office. At some point I wonder if they start tuning it out. “Here’s Illinois complaining about something again…” Whatever we’re doing, it doesn’t seem to be working.

The non-call on the 4th down with an official staring right at it when we are literally one play away from winning was the most egregious to me.
Until AD's demand accountability from the league nothing will change. Josh should definitely know where our fans stand if he cares to pay attention, and I think he does. If I'm an AD for anyone outside of MI and OSU I'm in Warren's ear BIG TIME about how the league hires, trains, assigns, and supervises officials - in BOTH sports.

I almost emptied my hitter box during that game... damn nerves!!!!
I went through 2 full size bowls and still am so upset with the fix.........scUM gets fixes left and right........Either way, we are still a ranked team or scUM is vastly overrated

Bret is now 3-8 in one score games at Illinois.

The post game thread seems to be filled with ‘played not to lose’ comments every other week.
This program is a very long way from having the talent to compete for a New Years bowl without making good decisions along the way. Hoping they build that at some point but until they do we’re in seven-win purgatory.

You identified the problem. Warren.

I'd rather lose a nice respectable 20 - 10 than lose this way.

However, I've been a fan long enough that I am used to this kind of game.

I do think that BB can at least maintain ILL as a respectable program and not be a joke like it was during TB-time.

And he hasn't hired a family member to coach LB's.

See I thought the refs were pretty consistent throughout the game. They really didn't want to throw a lot of laundry today and let them play for the most part. Was I watching a different game? I thought the loss was 100% on us and I'll give you anyone an earful if they want to hear about what I thought about the officiating of the Indiana and Purdue games.

Well, it was a tough loss considering we had victory in our grasp with a couple of minutes left. But if we could play Michigan every year, and always have it come down to a last second field goal to decide victory or defeat........I'd take it in a heartbeat.

There is no guarantee this season won't be our best chance to win the West and get an elite bowl game. We could build on this, but we had many stars aligned. This was a very back breaking 3 game stretch.

I agree. Wisconsin and Iowa aren't going to be down in the same season very often. however with improvement in the roster by BB, it shouldn't be an issue competing with and defeating them
