Whatever. I'm not ok with it. 1st and 10 with ~3:03 left and three scUM timeouts left?
I run a play action pass to Isaiah across the middle and he'd still be running.
9 or 10 in the box all bite on the run.

I'll die on that hill.

A couple of tough calls/no calls.

Hightower gets his arm tugged. No PI. Similar level of contact in a crucial moment. Flag comes out.

And their 4th down conversion, felt like their tight end picked our two DBs for them
to get the completion. And those screen passes that went for big chunks where our guy responsible for covering the RB was “blocked” before the pass came out. Felt like they got away with picks all afternoon.

Can B1G refs stop inserting themselves in games unnecessarily? That WAS NOT PI on Spoon!!
And how can you still get a non completion wrong even with the replay? It's simply inexcusable, but definitely by design by this league to protect its top teams.

Edit: I know it likely changed nothing, but that was not a catch

I really, really wish we had come out slinging it on that last possession. Time was not and was never going to be the deciding factor. We were either going to move the ball 40 yards and earn three first downs and kill the clock or we were going to hand it back for them to kick the game wining field goal. The bitter taste in mouth would be less if I thought we went down on that final drive like gunslingers.

Despite the loss, I'm proud of our effort today. No shame in losing by two points on the road to the number 3 team in the country. The previous two weeks (Purdue & Michigan State) will haunt me for this season. WE gift wrapped the division for the Boilermakers with some help from the refs last week. We bring this effort next week we should beat Northwestern although they have played Purdue & Ohio State very tough in recent weeks.

We have 4 loses for a combined 20 points.
Things we need for next season
1. A QB like Tommy
2. A kicker
3. A little more depth on the lines
4. Another WR who is a threat for n every play

I know we lose a lot of talent but we have players who can step up. Who knows if Chase comes back
You are aware we have 2 5* kickers coming in next year... Dooley and Olano!!

I wasn't planning not to let this game ruin my night, but here I am
I hear you but we've got let it slide and buck up. The program is making huge strides much earlier than I expected. That they were so competitive today on the road against #3 even with all the injuries we've suffered on both sides of the ball is remarkable.

I'll re-post the blurb from the end of the MGoBlog analysis of our offense earlier in the week. This is what we need to focus on IMO. That and hanging 50 on Northwestern next week, with Chase racking up 180 yards.

Watching Illinois this week I found myself believing even more in Bert's project in Champaign, despite already being this site's resident Bert believer to begin with. They don't quite have the ideal horses up front yet- the run blocking was just alright and Brown does quite a bit of work to help make the run offense effective- but the concepts are there. Bielema and OC Barry Lunney's combo is a match made in heaven and if they can begin to build a more vintage Bielema OL, and perhaps pair it with a slightly more athletic QB who can throw a bit deeper down the field, this could be a really exciting offense. For now, it's limited in what it can do, but there is a future here.

That last 1st down by Michigan where they had 2 wide receivers and it was a pick play and the wide receiver immediately came off and blocked 2 of defebacks out to clear space and the officials don't call that. that's big officiating for you. big 10 wanting an undefeated Michigan facing Ohio state enough said
