Reading all this, there is not much more to add. Wagler had a tough game, but I think it was as much due to MSU's game plan on him than anything going on with him. He was doubled and mugged all night. The other guys all played pretty well but could see fatigue taking a toll on the shooting in the second half. Lots of good looks but we just weren't making them. Officiating aside, we had our chances to win this and just couldn't put it away. Couldn't outrebound MSU and couldn't stop their drives/fast breaks. Really our best hope was to outscore them, and we just couldn't get it done. Kudos for being in this to the end, given all the adversity at Breslin. Tough place to win at but we gave it a good shot. Doesn't hurt us much at all but it sure would have been a heck of a win to get. Need to take care of business and put a big bullseye on MI.
I also think that being the second game in a row that Keaton was blitzed like this was affecting him. The first game he was able to maintain his patience and just took what was available but a second game of him from being forced away from what he really likes to do led to him forcing things which led to him driving in on multiple defenders waiting to blitz and hammer him expecting no calls. Which is what usually happened. He will learn from the experience and be ready the next time some team comes at him the same way.

I will go with NOT liking he or his teams.
They have demonstrated that they are undeserving of respect.

you know what ??............I'll say what any reasonable BB fan said after watching the game last night..........

1. screw tom izzo....................complete embarrassment as a coach and a human being..........he has hid scandal after scandal that his basketball players have committed.............he looked the other way on that trainer misconduct......his constant crying and whining on the sidelines is tired and needs to be addressed by the B$G.....good luck with that ever happening...............

2. screw jeremy fears.........he is a little b**ch who is the dirtiest player since grayson allen...............someone needs to give him some payback with his own dirty tactics......let fears get tripped numerous times , get his gonads kicked repeatedly and get clobbered in the back of his head like he has done all season long.........him getting praise for his behavior is repulsive and obscene........

3. screw the inmates of the breslin detention center...........they are nut jobs with little hope of escaping the terrible state of scumland and doing anything positive with their inbred lives................

4. screw every B$G ref..............every last one of them...............from d j bald head ref all the way down to the newest refs this year......they call games with such ineptness that when the Dance starts the B$G players have little clue how to play with non B$G refs doing a game.............

I wish I could post a /s at the end of this post but doing that would NOT be the pruman91 way of saying how I feel and what I saw last night..........it really really wouldn't......................

hope this post doesn't get me in trouble , but dammit I just felt this needed to be said............it's time criminals and dirty players need to be held accountable for their misconduct , not praised..........................

JMHO.................
were not worthy waynes world GIF

Brad does like and respect Izzo...

This is also about the Coaches Fraternity. There is a bond among (most) coaches of understood brotherhood and 'professional situation'. The bonds among Coaches are often stronger than the bond between a coach and his own team – especially these days. Your team roster is going to be very different every 12 months – but you’re going to see and coach against your ‘colleague’ for likely many years to come. And you are often friendly off the floor as well.

This is like the bonds many players of all Sports share. It’s 'Us' (players) against 'Them' (coaches, administrators, donors, pro team owners). The Brotherhoods that go deeper than the game results and that reach off the basketball floor.

Brad did call out Izzo. He challenged the play. He can complain about it like an all day long like us. However the refs watched the replay and determined incidental
Agreed- no sense complaining about it after the game it seems like sour grapes - he did get a little jab in and said “that’s just what he does” meaning stopping short on a big man

To be clear- he cleary trips him on purpose though- there is zero doubt about that. A PG with 15 assists who knows where everyone is on the court at all times somehow missed the 6’9 guy who was running right passed him? Fears was angling in his direction, stops, then just sticks out his foot for no reason- as blatant as can be. You don’t have to call it a flagrant but let’s not pretend that is a basketball play

Here's another reality that people got WAY out of hand in projecting how the season would play out.

This absolute nonsense that we were going to run the table and win the conference by going 19-1, winning 20 in a row(or whatever it would have been) is absolute nonsense and ridiculous. Teams have tough nights, players had tough nights, it's really hard to win in the road, etc. That's life in ANY sport.

Heck, look at Michigan at home vs Wisconsin. Look what almost happened to Purdue yesterday.

There's a good chance that we might end up with another clunker, ESPECIALLY on the West Coast. That UCLA game is going to be no joke. They're getting back to the team that the preseason polls thought they'd be. UConn just went through the same experience with St. John's. They're back to playing to expectations and got a W.

We are down a senior PG, are relying in a true freshman and went 2-1 during a stretch where we played 3 top 10 teams, on the road, in three consecutive weekends.

20-4, 11-2... Keep the train rolling and RELAX.
JMO — obviously you’d like to win all games, but if we can go 3-1 the next four, I’d be extremely elated. Agree the West Coast games will be tough, and I think every remaining game other than Maryland and Oregon should present a unique challenge.

We can play the “we’re a better team” argument — but truth is almost all teams are capable. Michigan almost lost to Penn State for crying out loud. To be 11-2 right now, with TWO top5 wins and only ONE road loss is a heck of an accomplishment.

As one poster pointed out — could genuinely make the argument that the lone difference in the standings is the ref crews assigned in East Lansing.

Very true, including your "most" qualifier. At least for now I think Dusty May is definitely NOT very welcome in the B10 Coaches Fraternity ... he's pissed off Izzo, Underwood and Painter (and probably others as well) with his free-wheeling attitude to poaching players from other B10 teams.

I think 2-2 is more likely though.

Yes, Illini had a chance to win in OT. I wish Davis would have taken shot after Wagler passed him the ball for last shot, instead he threw it to Z who had to take hurried shot. IMO Illini should have put game away during regulation time by taking better shots and not relying on Wagler so much. Illini have too many good players and could have worked ball inside to one of the bigs. Defense on Fears was piss poor, allowing him to get to rim at will or lean into defenders for foul shots. Game was definitely winnable. Perhaps Boswell could have helped defend if he was healthy, though bigs should have made Fears shoot over them without fouling (bodying up on him) and let a 2nd big go for block w/out fouling. I also felt Illini did not go after rebounds with same intensity as MSU and Illini did not defend fast break points giving up 22. Even so, I felt confident Illini had them until last few minutes.

With the way they were defending Wagler, I was surprised that Ben didn't get a few more shots. He was 3 of 6 with all 8 points coming early IIRC. He hit two 3s and they never went back to him much after that.

The other thing I noticed is that Mr. "I GUESS" Izzo said he was considering benching Fears or limiting his minutes as a form of discipline. Fears wound up playing 43 of the 45 minutes. "I GUESS" that's discipline in Tom's world.

Why not go 4-0 in the next four? We're better, way better than all 4 of those teams.

My point was you'd prefer to go 4-0. But even if we drop one and it's 3-1, it's still a very successful run.

Sorry, I'm just not a fan of penciling in auto-wins against quality opponents. And yes, they are quality opponents -- all four teams are projected to make the tournament.

Ready to put this game in the rear view mirror but I will say this. If we meet again in the BTT, I think we even up the toughness plays a little bit more, we will have Kylan back (which will help with the toughness), and we will hit shots and win by 20. If we are on our game they cannot hang with us.

A bond so strong that you might even be compelled to learn the names and correct pronunciation of opposing players.

When you have the completely unrealistic expectation of winning every game, that's when you get some of the comments from the Nebraska thread.

It's okay to realize you can lose games and still have a great season.
I don’t know where you got this logic from but it’s very flawed. Expecting to win every game especially the ones you are favored to win is not unreal. With the way this team is playing and getting a key member of the team back some of us don’t expect to lose to 4 teams behind us in the standings. You can go ahead and expect to lose and let some of the rest of us expect to win.

I also need to get this off my chest.
I'm tired of Brad kissing Izzo's behind.
If I was him I would be pissed at what Fears did to Mirk.

Kudos to Dusty May for calling Fears and Izzo out.
What would Bobby K have done? 😂
