I made the remark that Hamer was a grad assistant as a joke. But he pretty much was one last year. Not sure how he deserved an assistant spot. And giving him so much responsibility immediately. Very confusing.

If it was me, I’d drop Hamer and pick up LaTulip, no questions asked. But BU appears to be hard headed and stubborn at times. I wouldn’t foresee a change anytime soon.

Didn't read through the thread. Prolly didn't need to. 8 pt lead with 4 left. Need 4 things. Knock down a couple of shots. Fail. Take care of the ball. Fail. Play decent D. Fail. Grab an offensive rebound. Fail. No one to blame but themselves.

Hate that I’m saying it but it needs to be addressed….

Every single year for the past 5 years we’ve had really good teams.

Every single year for the past 5 years Brad has messed it up due to his stubbornness.

It’s a new thing every year that is just completely unnecessary….

You’re on 3rd base man… How many times are we going to do this ?

Hamer controls the defensive strategy with input from other coaches ...

Tyler controls the offensive strategy with input from other coaches ...
That is mind boggling. So Brad calls timeouts and substitutes poorly and our top assistants decide what color uniform we wear? If your statement is correct, again, mind boggling. GA's with that much authority? I'm dumbfounded.

If you are despair over the Illini basketball team losing a game, I suggest you work towards this glorious position I've found myself in.

Take joy in the love of the game, and extra joy in victory. Never let the outcome of a game or season impact your attitude which ends up putting those around you on their toes.

It's simply not my job, or yours to fix problems with a sports team, so it shouldn't put me in a mood that is noticeable to those around me.

I have no earthly idea ... I am just as frustrated as you guys ... Brad has his reasons but they are not good enough for me ... 🤷‍♂️

Goode should not be playing over Ty ... Period ...
Care to share what these reasons are?

Goode and Ty seem like a pretty obvious “sub offense for defense” pair when you need a 3 pter, but other than that I got no idea.

I think Ty would’ve been able to get a couple rebounds that Goode couldn’t.

The possession of the game was when MSU had like 3-4 cracks at it and then took the lead on and and-1 by Goode. Goodes defense and just not being strong enough to get a board was obvious.

I love Goode and what he brings but you got to put your players on the right positions to be successful.

Giving important responsibilities to an inexperienced assistant is borderline criminal. They need to make some adjustments there.

Talk about weak sauce.
Agreed.

Like I mentioned before, as a coach, have to manage the game smart in order to give your players a chance to win. Put the team in the best position possible. That has not been the case in some of these close games. Especially today.

If there is no game management adjustments from here on out.....I can see another quick exit in March.

"None of the three teams on the floor right now is particularly in control of themselves, this is going to get messy."

Thanks, Chief. I think that explains it.

How does MD our best free throw shooter and arguably best scoring option not get a shot in the last 7:30 of the game. I know he had a TO, but you need to get him to the free throw line at the very least to stop the bleeding. I still can't get my head around the total collapse the last 8 minutes.

I’m gonna say this again for the coaches that supposedly read this board.

The best way to let a team get back into a game is to miss jump shots. It doesn’t matter if they are “good shots” or “bad shots”.

Woo, I wish I could, but a winnable loss just kind of dampens my shine for a couple hours. I really would love for it to just roll off my back.

I simply don't understand having Luke on the floor instead of Ty with the game in the balance. Ty is just as good a free-throw shooter, which is insane, but true. Ty's way better defensively, way better at rebounding, and a better offensive option in general. The only thing Luke does is shoot threes and get absolutely cooked on defense. I like Luke, but Ty is inarguably one of our best players and needs to be on that court.

This is perhaps the first game we've lost explicitly because we don't have a PG. Ty Rodgers has been a great player for us, as everyone expected, but it has not been as a PG. My guess is, Underwood doesn't trust his handling and passing under pressure, which is why he doesn't play him down the stretch,

The obvious rebuttal is, then who do you trust? Because Domask is also not a PG. Luke Goode is not a PG. Terrence Shannon is not a PG. The only true PG we have is Moretti and he's not very good. So all that said, you can't avoid the actual problem, you might as well play the person that give you the most.

Overall, I've been amazed we've played as well as we have thus far without a PG, but as more and more tape is available on us, and guys legs get heavier, it will be more and more an issue.
