I get his list, except for Miami (probably things I don't know or understand). I don't know if there is any back story I'm unaware of, but I am surprised Pitt wasn't on that list?
Not having spent much time in Pittsburgh, but enough, I can't imagine too many coaches that have that as a dream destination....unless it comes with a membership to Oakmont or the Field Club and the coach is a single digit hcp. However, if that is the case, he would likely spend more time on the golf course than the recruiting trail and wash out anyway.

For decades, that was a positive for the Illini BB program as no one wanted to spend any time on the Orange or Blue courses in Savoy. Hence, the Lou Henson years. Explains it all.

Maybe if this guy spent more time on the team instead of on his guns, Hunter wouldn't have left there looking like a string bean and running like a t-rex.

As I recall he shunned us. Sounds like he probably wouldn’t have liked it here anyways.

Still think he’s a great coach.
Wasn't this rumored to be a classic example of Mike Thomas screwing us? I remember there being rumors that Bill Self had told a coach (either Shaka or someone else) that he felt Illinois was one of the best jobs in the country, and then that coach only lost interest once meeting/talking with MT, lol. And (regardless how any did/do turn out), when you consider that Whitman has hired some relatively high-profile coaches ... it definitely seems like our issues during the Beckman/Groce hiring eras had less to do with Illinois than it did to do with Mike Thomas. Anyone seriously think MT could have wooed the sitting basketball coach at Oklahoma State??

Anyway, back to Juwan ... I have gained a TON of respect for Beilein (even more than I already had!) and the players he left behind on that 2021 Michigan team that "won the Big Ten" and made the Elite Eight. Because that pretty clearly wasn't Howard's coaching job, lmao.

Seems entirely credible the way Goodman reports it. Makes me wonder how different the culture is now vs the John Beilein days. Bet they'd like him back.
That's my one fear if they fire juwan is that they bring beilein back. I didn't think he is coaching right now.

Normal, Illinois
Nope. Which is why we have TSJ right now and Michigan has Fight Club.

Edit: For clarity's sake, TSJ was going to go to Michigan but couldn't clear admissions.

Edit 2: Transfer admissions is a little bit different than freshman admissions, but I still think Michigan is a little more difficult than Illinois wrt admissions.
Was this ever confirmed? I always got the impression that the whole story of "Michigan was going to get TSJ before admissions screwed us" full of scUM copium. I interpreted it as TSJ enjoyed his visit and, being the classy guy he is, got along with Dickinson, who got the impression in his pea brain that TSJ was absolutely coming to Michigan. When that didn't happen, Dickinson ran his mouth on Twitter and thus the whole rumor about admissions was born.
