Have to give Seattle management some props. They needed offense and they went out and got Naylor and Suarez at the deadline. Both have been big in playoffs. Do they have enough offense to get by Toronto though. Looks like they have only two guys in lineup who are batting over .209 in the series.

Watching that Seattle team in the 8th & 9th inning was a picture of everything wrong with modern baseball. Down a run & needing only 1 baserunner in the 8th or 9th to get Cal Raleigh one last shot, I believe 5 of the 6 outs were whiffs by guys trying to hit the ball 800 feet.

It is startling the lack of game situation awareness that the modern major league game possesses. It has dropped off so far in recent years. Even the 2016 Cubs were a bunch of patient hitters, worked the count, made the pitcher work & would take what was there (Javy excluded). Now, even the .200 hitter in the 9 hole tries to go yard every time up. Regardless of score, baserunners, etc.

I’d have settled for 420 feet. Twice.

No due credit for the Toronto closer Hoffman?

Closer did good. My comment more had to do with the approach. They 7,8,9 guys were all just swinging for the fences when they needed baserunners.

I'm an old man yelling at the clouds quite possibly. I understand the analytics of the swing for the fences approach but I throw analytics in the trash when I need 1 run to keep my season alive.

It wasn't that they made outs. That has happened forever. It was the way they made the outs.

I went to bed after the top of the 11th. I figured the Dodgers would win. I needed my beauty rest.

I fell asleep on the couch around the 12th inning in last night's game. Don't know where it was in the game when I woke up but I just turned the TV off and went to bed.

Gotta give credit to the Blue Jays after losing that 18 inning game. They dominated the Dodgers last two games. Yesavage to pitch like that after spending the entire year till September in the minors is crazy. He reminded me of John Lackey when Lackey came up with the Angels and they won in 2002.

I think the series goes 7. Yamamoto been dominant lately

Crazy finish to Game 7. Bring on Game 8!
I made this comment to my brothers earlier in the week that I felt this series was going the full distance and that it would be "Game 8" since Game 3 went two full games. ;)

Only fitting this World Series goes the distance. It's been great.

I understand why true extra innings are needed in the playoffs, but I don’t miss extended games like that during the regular season

I hate the extra innings ghost runner and NL DH. The only new rule that I like is the pitch clock. Part of the charm of baseball for me was those wacky extra inning games where there’s a one in a million chance of it going long. And as a NL fan growing up, I think the DH added intrigue to inter league play and the World Series, but now there’s no difference. And I liked the strategy of having to double switch, whether to leave the pitcher in. It’s really made the game dull to me as a NL fan when they put the DH into the NL. Other than the pitch clock, I haven’t liked any of the new rules. I don’t like extra inning ghost runner, NL DH, limiting the times to throw over to 1st, not letting relievers just face 1 batter, making the defense not shift. I think the new rules took so much of the little strategic elements away.

If they just added an every pitch automated strike zone (the new challenge system next year sounds dumb), kept the pitch clock, and put back in the old rules I would think baseball would be perfect. But they aren’t ever gonna get rid of the DH in the NL now.

Yeah, I'd be okay if I didn't have to see the Manfred man anymore but I know that change won't happen anytime soon.

As a longtime NL fan, I was where you were at initially prior to them adding the DH. I liked the strategy that came with having to account for the pitcher's spot. Now, I actually like the NL having the DH as well. I can't imagine where Cardinals would be if they didn't have the DH spot for guys like Goldy and Contreras in recent years.

Will Hoffmann join Jose Mesa and Mariano Rivera as guys that blew Game 7 of a World Series?
