I hate the extra innings ghost runner and NL DH. The only new rule that I like is the pitch clock. Part of the charm of baseball for me was those wacky extra inning games where there’s a one in a million chance of it going long. And as a NL fan growing up, I think the DH added intrigue to inter league play and the World Series, but now there’s no difference. And I liked the strategy of having to double switch, whether to leave the pitcher in. It’s really made the game dull to me as a NL fan when they put the DH into the NL. Other than the pitch clock, I haven’t liked any of the new rules. I don’t like extra inning ghost runner, NL DH, limiting the times to throw over to 1st, not letting relievers just face 1 batter, making the defense not shift. I think the new rules took so much of the little strategic elements away.
If they just added an every pitch automated strike zone (the new challenge system next year sounds dumb), kept the pitch clock, and put back in the old rules I would think baseball would be perfect. But they aren’t ever gonna get rid of the DH in the NL now.
