As much as many Illini fans on here may not want to hear this, Coby White has been an absolute revelation since LaVine went out. He was already getting playing time over Ayo and with his performance recently that's not likely to change anytime soon.
Coby’s game has really come on in the last two years. When Ayo got there he didn’t play defense . He’s now a two way player and a first option offensively.

We are going to need the tapes released of practice that said Podz couldn't keep up on an Illinois team that couldn't advance in the tourny.

He became a lottery pick and looks the part on an NBA court 2 years later.

We are absolutely dying for an Illinois lottery pick success story for recruiting its crazy.

My mistake first rounder point still stands

The Bulls are an absolute watch these days.

Won again tonight at home against the Lakers. Have won 7 of their last 10 and just finished a brutal 6 game stretch that saw them play a road game at Milwaukee, home game against Denver, back to back road games at Miami, a road game at Philly, and tonight's game. They ended up going 3-3 in that stretch, which I would have been thrilled to have them go when they started it.

Definitely stings. I understand that mistakes can be made in choosing which guys to develop in the instant gratification era of the transfer portal. But for all the people doubling down on defending Brad’s decision last year, I’m hearing a lot of silence this year 😂

This probably doesn't belong here, but here's a good article about Podz

I get it, I understand BU’s rationale, but it’s hard to swallow. No one on his staff knew he was crying himself to sleep. I guess that would be a good predictor of entering the portal.

Good read and speaks volumes about the young man’s character. He pushed through the adversity to become what he believed he could be, learning some of life’s greatest lessons in the process. He deserves all the credit.

Zach being out has helped Coby emerge as well.

Two way player I'd agree with on Ayo. First option offensively not so much.
I was referring to Coby as a first option. I am glad to see Ayo has gotten more confidence to let it fly. Ayo is a very good defender. If he can keep adding parts to his offensive game, he may get to the point of being a bigger part of the offense. Never doubt a player with a big heart and great work ethic.

Coby White suddenly becoming Jimmy Butler after LaVine gets taken off the floor is one of the weirder things I’ve ever seen in sports.
I really hope Lavine is taking notes and gets in where he fits in…should he come back. He is a complete black hole on offense and presents zero defense. To be fair, the ball was sticking with Demar when Lavine was healthy, he probably knew he wouldn’t see the ball again.

where are all the trade White fans now?

great to see the light bulb going off for Williams too.

unbelievable turnaround: Bulls are must watch tv now. really happy Ayo is a big part of it. I'd be remiss not to mention, how good has Drummond been? love that guy. great move by AK

Drummond is an absolute beast. His per 48 numbers, especially rebounding are insane.

The Bulls are fighting some tired legs tonight, 4th game in 6 days, but are right there in another close game. Ayo on the quiet side and Demarvelous is struggling. Cavs are down 4 starters. Bulls really could use this game.

Podz with an impressive line against DEN. Tied for the most minutes played on GS with Steph and had the best +/- of any of the starters. His line was 13/9/6 with 5 steals and 3/4 from 3. Wish his time at Illinois had gone differently, but hard to argue with the results and happy for him nonetheless.

Any fan of a roundball team at any level should have sympathy these days for fans of the Detroit Pistons.

As a fan of the Bulls and Pelicans... I have no particular love for the Pistons. But I feel bad for their fans (however many of those are still left). They have just witnessed their team lose their 27th game in a row. Not even the Bulls in their worst year ever did that.

No professional sports franchise should ever deteriorate to that level. They are still charging people to get in, right? They have a duty to provide some kind of a product worth watching.

Teams have up years and down years. It happens. But to set up an environment for a team to lose 27 in a row? That is some kind of professional negligence... not to mention a crime against nature for people who invest time and money in following that team.

If this keeps up, the Pistons might have to slink back to Fort Wayne where they first started in the 1930s... except that it’s likely that Fort Wayne doesn’t want them right now either.

This team brings a whole to meaning to the (Pistons) words... BAD Boys.

Or better said now, REALLY Bad Boys.

It is a really bad roster. Them and the Wizards. Looks like Detroit could make some hay towards the low bar number of 9 in the middle of January. They have the Spurs and Wizards, but the home spurs game is the 2nd of a back to back.
As flush as the NBA is with talent, the best it has ever been imo, there is no excuse to 3 teams with 5 wins or less.
