Yeah, Ayo was the problem last year /s
Organization is run by a bunch of clowns

Bulls have a glut of guards already. Coby White is a better option than Ayo, especially because he can shoot the 3 a lot better than Ayo can. Illini fans on here need to come to grips with the fact that Ayo likely won't be playing for the Bulls come October.

This. Ayo regressed last season, plain and simple. Doesn't mean he doesn't have potential or value. Just means he needs to shore up some facets of his game.

Exactly. Ayo doesn't get playing time ahead of LaVine, Caruso, and likely Coby. Free agent signing Jevon Carter likely would take any sort of role Ayo would have on the team. If they let Ayo walk, Dalen Terry could possibly get some more minutes. They may even keep Javon Freeman-Liberty on the roster as a two-way player going between the NBA and G League rosters.

Coby White was on his way out the door until last season. Ayo will be better with the same amount of time to develop in my opinion. Would be foolish to let him walk if that's what the Bulls decide to allow! AK said he was resigning them both. Better make it happen!

Ummm no. He will play over Coby and Caruso, and JFL. He's a better offensive and defensive player than all of them except Caruso defensively.

I'll have what you're having
Cheers 🍻 👏🏾 Coby gives up as many buckets as he makes or more. He definitely can shoot 3's better than Ayo at this point, abs finally improved his handles. However, Ayo runs the offense better and puts pressure on the defense which leads to way more open shooters. Also he plays defense and was one of the better defenders in the team in my opinion.

If Ayo ran the offense better, why did they have to go sign P Bev last season?

Because they wanted veteran leadership and Because he is one of the most tenacious defenders in the NBA and has been for some time, plus he is a native Chicagoan! Who better to set an example for your young upcoming guards and team! To help build that defensive culture. I watched every game last season and Ayo played defense on a high level since being drafted. However, Derozan, Coby White, Zach Lavine, Vucevic, and others do not. Jevonte Green, Caruso, and Ayo do! Ball has been out. So yea that's why! Definitely not for offensive reasons. Matter of fact here are some highlights for you...

We’ll see what happens with Ayo and his future in The Association. But right now it can be said...

Point #1: It was a great thing that the Bulls drafted him and that he got to play for his hometown team. It was also great for the Fighting Illini and Illini Nation to have him playing in Chi-Town on the floor that Michael built. Ayo has already had some fine moments during his time with the Bulls. Nothing that happens now will ever take that away.

Point #2: Like anyone who works for an employer... you want to work and be in a place where you are appreciated. If the Bulls want to move on from Ayo then he needs to be elsewhere in order to grow and thrive as a player. Pro sports has plenty of stories about players who may have stalled out somewhere and then blossomed after they found a more fertile environment.

Point #3: Ayo knows he’s in an intensely competitive business where there’s a hundred guys ready to take your spot away. He also knows what he has to do to be a better player. Like any player... it’s on him to perform to a level that he will be a sought-after asset.

You make (and keep) yourself a player that teams want to have. Doing that, you’ll always find a home somewhere as long as you want it.

And with the Bulls being a dysfunctional franchise for so long... maybe Ayo would find a better fit elsewhere anyway.

Podz update for those wondering how he did.
Maybe this was already noted in other threads.

5 games. 30 mpg.
9.0 ppg.
Shot 26% overall.
21% from three.
Rebounds and Assists numbers were decent.

I was hoping Podz would stay. I’m glad he found success and is in the league. That said, I’m sure the Warriors, along with many other teams in the lottery, will regret not taking Cam Whitmore. He looks like a player.

Those stats make last year's Melendez look like a sharpshooter.
Going to take Podz some time to adjust.

I still don’t think Podz sticks in the league, but in his defense plenty of guys have shot poorly in summer league and still had good rookie seasons

The Bulls have issues but there is nowhere near as much dysfunction as there was during the GarPax years.

Ayo leaving has nothing to do with fit with the franchise. He regressed last season. While he does provide help on the defensive end, no NBA team respects his 3-point shooting ability. Until he improves on that, he'll just be another guy on an NBA roster.

good for him

21 million less the agents take of 3.5 leaves him 17.5 before tax
after tax that’s 9 million for 3 years .

that should set him up for life even if he never gets another contract nor endorsement money
