sounds like you are right. Kuminga and McDaniels will play the 3/4 spots probably depending on matchups...Kuminga primarily the 4.
I think his signing still eats into TJ's minutes...I hope he gets traded.
I don’t think anybody other than OKC and SA are legitimate contenders. According to Polymarket, there’s a 71% chance it’ll be one of those two winning the west (honestly seems a bit low to me).
But Timberwolves are third:
I agree that 6.5M/year seems low given his flashes of potential. I thought LAL offered him a 2 year, 10M/year contract a few months ago and he turned it down. I expect Kuminga to fail at MN for the same reason he failed at GS -- he won't have the ball in his hands as much as he needs/wants. I also expect it will not be long before Kuminga believes he isn't getting enough play time and/or pay and goes back into pout mode.
The GS run was just weird. Lacob (the owner) wanted Kuminga as one of the potential central members of the post Curry era. Kuminga did not fit into the current GS offense. He wanted the ball for 1:1 isos. GS works based on movement, spacing and 3-pt shooting from all positions. (I think Butler is a mismatch for the same reasons.) The result is GS neither played, nor was willing to trade Kuminga. Things got pretty ugly as Kuminga saw his window sliding away.
Related: Podz is another player that Lacob and Kerr want for the post Curry era. I think he is a lead anchor and a major reason GS can't compete.
3rd in the west is definitely a contender.
Most of all, their team is much more improved from last season.
