Bears lose their sixth straight. First time with a six game losing streak since the 2002 Champaign season, when they lost 8 straight at one point. Good thing there aren't any fans in attendance as the Bears would have gotten booed out of Soldier Field. This loss likely seals Nagy's fate for the rest of the season.

I think they’ll match that 8 game losing streak because the team I’ve seen play these past few weeks isn’t going to beat Houston or Minnesota.

I don’t know how this defense can stop the Texans next week. There is a serious problem with the pass rush. how can they go into next season with that much of a cap hit for guys not getting it done.

That’s the type of game that gets you fired on a Monday. Also can we please quit talking about this defense being good?
Those last 3 minutes were...special.

By the way apparently the salary cap goes down $20 million next season so good luck trying to move Mack or Quinn, not that anyone would want Quinn.

It has been reported by Jason La Canfora that Pat Fitzgerald is at the top of the Bears wish list. Isn't this putting the cart before the horse...Hire the right GM and let that person make the decision on who they want to hire!

I don't count on the McCaskeys making the correct moves at all.

Ownership messing with the GM’s ability to run the team is the Bears’ modus operandi going back at least to Halas hiring Ditka without consulting Finks, which caused Finks to quit.

Maybe that would get Pace to quit!:D
The Bears didn’t even have a GM when they hired Wannstedt and Jauron. Seriously, they went about 15 years without a GM from about 1987 to 2001.

Angelo wasn’t allowed to fire Jauron when he came in.

Emory wasn’t allowed to fire Lovie when he came in.

Pace wasn’t given the autonomy to hire his own coach when he came in.

Bears ownership has encouraged an unclear chain of command and lack of accountability for decades

So why should this time be any different?

There's a lot of poor decisions in all of this but the dumbest was not letting Emory fire Smith when he was hired as GM but letting him fire Smith after a 10-6 season one year later. o_O

Was listening to Hub Arkush on the Score today and he said that the sources that La Canfora is using for this story aren't known as the most reliable so take this story with a grain of salt. Fitzgerald makes no sense as he's never coached in the NFL and he seems to be in the perfect job for him. At least someone like Matt Ruhle had NFL coaching experience albeit brief.

Having to watch today's Bears-Texans game on my phone through the Yahoo Sports app as Dish is in a carriage dispute with the parent company of WCIA and the digital antenna I have can't pick up the next closest CBS affiliate which is WMBD in Peoria.

Bears up 30-7 at half. Defense has looked good against a depleted Texans offense. Bears offense has been able to move the ball, especially against the bad Texans run defense.

The Bears already got the Tom Brady monkey off their backs.

Now they got the Texans monkey off their backs.

I know the Texans suck but that was fun to watch. At least we don't have to hear about how Watson stuck it to the Bears for not drafting him all week long.

And one of the talking points I heard the past couple weeks was whether you'd want to be the Bears where you have Trubisky at QB and a strong defense or the Texans where you have Watson and not much else.

It’s amazing how badly Pace and Nagy have screwed up the Bears’ qb position.

Mitch is not a great qb. He was picked way too high at #2.

But, he can move the ball when an offense is designed around his strengths and took the team to the playoffs when Nagy did so. But then over the last year and a half, Nagy steadfastly refused to do so until it became clear his job was on the line.

I think now, it’s pretty clear that had Nagy not been stubborn with his offense, the Bears would be looking at a third straight winning season and possibly third straight playoff appearance.

Instead Pace indulged Nagy, spent more draft capital and cap room to get a worse qb in Foles. Trubisky is headed to free agency and is better than Foles is and is realistically better than any single qb the Bears will be able to bring in next year whether through draft, trade or free agency.

Ideally, the Bears should be giving Trubisky a modest 2 or 3 year extension while using a lower draft pick to try to groom his replacement. Instead, they are paying more money for a worse qb in Foles and will be using even more resources to draft or trade for someone who won’t be as good as Mitch to start immediately over Foles.

It’s a complete disaster and is the reason why neither Pace nor Nagy should be around to decide how that next qb transition plays out.
