I'm going back and forth on whether or not I'd be okay with them putting it in the rafters. If they do, maybe tuck it off to the side, out of plain sight. If we won the NIT, would we raise a banner to the rafters to commemorate it?

Put it dead center in the rafters for the 2017-2018 season. Any time they start playing bad or unfocused, just look up and they'll remember their NIT run could have been a tournament run, and all they had to do was fight harder in some conference games.
Hmmm, so winning the NIT is something to be ashamed of? I think losing the NIT would.
It's certainly not, but it's not banner worthy, IMHO.
Why not treat it as other tournaments and invitationals and such?
This is our 4th NIT in 8 years, and you know what...
If we're gonna do this, we might as well win one of these MF'ers.
As of right now, I'm all in! If we have to be mediocre, let's be successfully mediocre!
Any news on Finke and if he will be able to play Monday?
Getting back to the game with Boise State...what's the word on B.S.? How do we/they measure up? Will they bring their own potatoes?
I thought I had heard it was a stress fracture, but I haven't seen that confirmed so maybe it was speculation. Have not heard him ruled out for Monday by anyone with the team.
There's very little value in having Finke play and risk really hurting himself. We are done seeing him play this year, and that's a-ok. Thorne will be serviceable and if Walker wants some of Finke's guard-like skillset on the floor, then he can sub in AJ or DJW.
We'll be fine, and that's not a slight on MF.
The NIT title does not matter enough to risk playing him. Let Big Mike, DJW & AJ divvy up the slack.
How crazy would this be if Illinois had Brad Underwood coach the Illini in the NIT Monday night against Boise State three days after losing to Michigan as Oklahoma State coach Friday in Indianapolis? Has this every happened? The news conference is earlier in the day in Champaign, Ill., hours before the NIT second-round tipoff.
It would be a terrible idea haha. 0 practices, players don't know him, trust him, or anything. Just because officially he's their coach doesn't mean he can coach the team the first day, especially for Seniors.
As a 2 seed, why would we go to FL?

I remember reading somewhere that the SFC will not be available during that time.
